Has any body used Bark.com - a revolutionary way to hire local services as far as i can see it is free and i have been flooded with enquirers ,shame as i am fully booked for 2016 but might be useful for some.

As is said about another scourge, your first 'hit' is free. After that it's a fiver for the privilege of replying to a lead. Great if your conversion ratio is 1:1

This was mentioned the other week.
To be honest, I am sick of my inbox being flooded with 'enquiries' now.
I have spoken to 3 other local suppliers (2 x DJ's and 1 x Photo Booth) and they have all mentioned that they have heard that some of / if not the majority of the 'enquiries' are...ahem....well... I don't want to say it out loud.

Now call me sceptical but what if that flood of enquirers wasn't all it seemed? What if, for example, some of them had been dreamed up by the site to get you to click on them and pay your £5 - per lead - when there is actually no booking at the end of it for anyone? And how would you prove that this was what has happened?

Now I'm not for one minute suggesting that this is the case but, to me, it does seem strange that a new service suddenly has "floods" of leads. And it would appear to be an awfully convenient way of the site owner's maximising their profits. Theoretically, of course! ;)

I've recently signed up for a few newly started listings sites for weddings & parties. One works on the basis that once the initial period is over they charge a fee which is fine. The other is acting like a traditional agent. Also fine.

If it could be seen that this Bark thing has genuine actual leads not automatically generated spec emails then it might be worth a punt. A fiver to snag a good paying gig for forward thinking people isn't a bad deal. If it's a real gig. It's not inconceivable that tales of generic emails have been circulated by competitors to scupper them but what are the odds?

I've had a couple of bookings from Bark. They do well on google search results too so I'm in, until I'm spending too much on the leads without getting the bookings then I'm out again!.
