Wow....

Not been on here for a while, but boy oh boy do I have an excuse.

Firstly... Why the hell didn't anyone tell me not to do this! My god I'm exhausted.

So I finally got the Mobile DJ Business up and running (almost) but not without working finger to the bone.

Equipment - done
Music sourcing and converting to MP3 not already in that format - done (but ongoing)
Subscription to CD Pool - done
Music library organising - done
Company Logo - Done
Company Website - done (but still under construction)
Business Cards - done
Facebook Page - done

While all this is going on I had (what I thought at the time) a smart idea to organise a charity disco to launch my new business and gain some exposure + photos and feedback from my new business page and website.

Register event with my chosen charity "MIND" - done
Book venue - done
Get other local businesses to donate towards the cost of buffet and raffle prizes - done
Find helpers as I cant do everything on the night (inc. face painters, doorman, raffle ticket seller, buffet organisers, hall decorators) - done
Sell tickets to everyone and his dog - done (still going, over 100 sold so far, max of 150 available)
Arrange Disney Characters to make guest appearance and event - done
Party games and free prizes, glowstick wristbands and glitter tattoo's for the kids - done

Still to do...
PAT testing - being done tomorrow
purchase ProDub licence
Sell more tickets
Purchase food for buffet
Remember to have a bath and brush my teeth!
Eat!
Breath!

My charity event is on Saturday the 11th, I cant wait till its done now, I am worn out already and I've not earned a single penny.
I blame every one of you nice people on this forum for giving me all the info I needed to set up my own mobile dj company.... Why oh why didn't you just say "Gav, run away!" lol

I need a flipping holiday! :daft:

Hopefully after this I can get back to normal and fill this nice new shiny diary I have purchased for bookings.

Damn you people on here.... Why couldn't you have just said "yh mate, gets some flashy lights, some speakers and off you go son!?! lol

Building the foundations always takes time :)

Event organising is one major drain though, I used to do a few to promote myself a few years ago (not for charity) ... Loads of work! But it did work very well for networking in my case.

At least your doing it proper, you'll be ahead of the flashy lights and speakers guys from day one!

Oh and holidays don't exist for self employed people! I'm on one now but every morning checking emails spending an hour at least working haha.
