Inspired by Steve's reply to Mike in the " Brummie Bands" thread. Let's expand this to include any tracks you'd like classifying, but can we do this one first please?
"Slade" born to be wild is a real thrash metal track.
.
Somebody clearly wouldn't know thrash metal if it bit him on the arse.
In the interests of fairness, I listened to said track. It's lively, it's guitar based ( almost solely ), and I can see where Mike's description comes from. Sadly, in my humble opinion, it's off by quite a few degrees.
I vehemently hate " labels " ( no Steve, not as in Tamla Motown :p:)) in music, but in an attempt to give it a name I had a look at some classifications. I don't think it fits neatly into any myself.
I'd say it leans to Glam Metal, which isn't really amazing, as Slade were always Glam Rock. Its close relative Hair Metal doesn't look like good fit to me. I can't find better homes myself. All yours folks.
