Yup - just seen it on my news feed.

2016 has been awful with the amount of talent that's died

Hopefully we'll have "I believe in Father Christmas" for this year's No.1.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid with the passing years, that's very likely to be repeated.

There are only two certainties in life: Death and Taxes. :(:(

That would be fitting, as he was kept from No 1 by Joe Dolce- Shaddap your face , hardly the last word in cutting edge music.

Are you getting confused with Ultravox?

Curse my failing memory. :o:o So it would appear, my knowledgeable friend, thanks.

According to the first Wiki article I found, it was Queen who beat him.

Lake was never bitter that the song's original release was kept from number one in the UK music charts by Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."

He once stated solemnly: "I got beaten by one of the greatest records ever made. I would’ve been cheesed* off if I’d been beaten by Cliff (Richard)."
