Lighting ideas for small venue

Since returning this year the bulk of my work has been in the function room of a social club which has its own fairly decent led pars mounted in the ceiling. The setup is directly next to the fire doors and I reckon I can get setup time down to about 10 mins. With this in mind I'm looking at changing the lighting I currently take ( 4 dynamos and an impossibled ) for something quicker to set up and lighter. I've seen the chauvet gig bar 2.0 but wondered if anybody else had any suggestions

One Chauvet Intimidator Barrel 305 IRC up on a pole and a hazer. Maybe a Strobe too. Instant drama!

I thought maybe a wizard on a stick but I worry that having just one fixture might make it look a bit naff from the clients perspective and the venue may wonder what they are paying for

They care about what you're playing not your lightshow. Easy psychological trap to fall into. You said lighter and I promise you that a Wizard is anything but light! Chauvet is quicker and MUCH lighter (and probably brighter).

If there's sufficient wash light already, I often use a Chauvet Beamer 6 (http://www.chauvetlighting.co.uk/beamer-6-fx.html), which may already be discontinued, or the ultimate all in ones the older Swarm 5FX (https://www.chauvetdj.com/products/swarm-5-fx/), or its successor the Swarm Wash FX (http://www.chauvetlighting.co.uk/swarm-wash-fx.html)

All have perfectly acceptable two colour lasers, and strobe type effect, as well as other effects. And no, I don't work for Chauvet, it's just what I use. :D

A wizard on a stick is great - I am moving back towards that - however you say your functions are mainly in a social club. Generally I find these venues, and customers, like more rather than classy and subtle (not wanting to sound rude lol).

The gig bar 2 would be ideal, but depending on the size you will likely need 2 so maybe not the most cost effective option.

I love the new Chauvet Wash FX, when DMX'd it is one of the best fictures out there, it can do it all. and all from one reasonably tidy light.

Looking at it, it seems a very slimmed down version of the gig bar. I find the Gigbar quite disappointing so think this will only be any use in the smallest, and very dark, rooms. Saying that, 3 linked together would give a decent impressive lightshow I would imagine.

I Cant comment because i've seen neither in the flesh. I have got the swarm 5's at a Res and also new Swarm wash which i use on the road. Each LED can be controlled individually which gives you some great shows and chases within each fixture if you spend the time to program them

That's just about what I have for a larger room, but use 2 x barrels and 2 x scans plus the Wash FX. Added a Radius 2.0 for early "background" effect to add a little light into the room, spicing it up to S2L later on.

For a small venue, I have 2 x ADJ Inno Pocket Scans and 2 x Chauvet Obsessions, along with the Wash FX again.

I believe you are familiar with the room in question. It has an abundance of ceiling mounted wash lighting all controlled with a neat wireless remote so it's really just movement I need. I may have to have a look at the swarms

Aha! ;):) So I am. In there I use two Swarm 5s or the Beamer on my Micromax booth. Each has a cluster laser on board, so ideal in my book.
For anyone who hadn't picked up on it, this room is a tad different. You don't need any wash lights at all. That's all in house. All you need is movement.

Durham Amateur Rowing Club is the same. They have an LED FlatPar install around the room and it's quite good!

These are actually sunk into the ceiling and double as house lights. There's wash up lighting around half the room ( the half with no seating strangely ) which operates of a separate remote. It's nice as I can derig my lighting a good 15 mins before the end if the night and just run off the wash
