The Honeycombs - Have I the right, just to learn the words.

For the bonus point what was different about that group? (notice NOT a band!) http://planetsmilies.net/music-smiley-7505.gif

And.........could be a topic for another thread......What was the first record/tune you spun as a dj? Mine was The Hollies - The air that I breathe. http://planetsmilies.net/music-smiley-7524.gif

Very cool Darren. I was into Shaky in the 80's. As well as having several of his albums I once had an album called Crapes (or is it Crepes) and Drapes by Matchbox :Rock on:

As for my first single. That was Blondie 'Sunday Girl'

Given - Silence is Golden by the Tremelos (and various other singles from the 1960s) from my Mum as I used to have an old valve turntable in my bedroom as a kid. Still have them now as can't give them away due to sentimental value (same with all my 7 inch singles - can't let them go even though the 12 inch and albums are long gone.)

Bought - I think it was David Bowie 'Fashion' on 7 inch (and still have it) but that was only after I took back some weird 12 inch single that was from the dump bin in the record shop.

After that, when older, I often searched through the dump bins and found pre-release stuff or ex-chart stuff to add to the collection. I even had a girlfriend who worked in a record shop - very handy for a DJ - was known to go in after work on Friday, grab the new releases, take them to the club, play them and take them to my girlfriend on Sunday who took them back for me on Monday unless I paid for them!

Ahh Well, being a 60's Love Child, I grew up on Emile Ford & The Checkmates, Craig Douglas, Marty Wilde and others of that ilk, all belonging to my mothers record collection and could not understand why my mates at school had never heard of these people!!!

Even now I buy very few CD's etc, appx 98% of my music has come direct from either the artists or the distribution companies.

First record given - Cherish - David Cassidy (the album)
(If you knew my mum, you would understand how she bought me it, although I must admit I played it a lot as it came with my first record player!)

Nope, I just started them to help out those who need quick cover for a gig, I think we've only been able to post on them once or twice since I started them.

But I'm sure those of you that have used them regularly have found them useful. (Well I hope so anyway, I'd hate to think I was wasting my free time)
