I always associate mirrorballs with 70's disco.

Classic effect that I actively use at pretty much every wedding when it'll fit into the setup area of whatever tent I happen to be working in on the night :)

Timeless effect. I always think it's great when a venue has one installed on the ceiling. Works great with the moving heads pointed towards them.

It's an effect I've never owned though....or been asked for.

It's a great effect. It just peeves me when people associate it with the 80's.

But surely they were still ubiquitous in clubs right through the 80s - they weren't invented in the 70s, they were around long before that and may have been particularly associated with the 70s disco scene but they didn't suddenly disappear at midnight on 31st December 1979. I'm fine with them being associated with the 80s, especially the first half of the decade when it was all par cans of various sizes (but predominantly 36 and 38), and effects using those lamps like harvesters etc.

I've got to go and put one of my 1m mirror balls into the roof of a barn today, first time it's been out since Covid.
