Hi

can anyone throw light on this.

I am teaming up with my local Radio station and running mobile Discos for them. They mentioned that a Licence is required by myself for example if they took a booking for a venue where people are paying to get in apparently.
I know as a mobile Disco working in Pubs and other Venues doing private functions everything is covered by those venues with their entertainment licence and they are not paying to enter

Can anyone help and maybe point me in the correct direction

Thanks

I may be wrong,

But i think providing the venue is covered by PPL, or is deemed by PPL as not required (ie a dwelling etc) then being charged to enter doesn't affect it.

You can get a license for a mobile disco from PPL, however for most venues it isn't required, and so most DJs won't purchase it until they are required to have the license.

In conclusion: I don't think your affected no matter wether they are charging entry fees or not. You will only need a license from PPL if the venue is not covered, or does not have the license.

Hi Mark - I hope you'll decide to stick around and start a thread in the 'Newbies' section to introduce yourself to the other forum members, but in the meantime..... Licencing!

There was a link on here somewhere to a table prepared by Phil Cunnington of NADJ and approved by the relevant authorities which gives details of the various licences and the situations that each would be required, but I can't find the link at the moment. However, I saved a copy for my own records so here it is (I hope Phil doesn't mind me posting this up!?!) Hope this helps!

Angela has posted up a file for download, which identifys what you need for each type of event. The link to the file is below the rest of her post and is called "Licensing Royalties Information.pdf" it also has a little adobe reader icon next to it. The link for the PPL website (as i posted before) is: http://www.ppluk.com/
