HI guys, I've joined up to the forum to try and find out some information about getting good affordable (In my budget) equipment and how to become more professional in my approach as my business skills are ZERO I'd say, I really want try to offer something a little different as a selling point than what other similar acts may be doing in my area, also to run a few ideas past you guys of how to approach pubs/bars to try to get some work, things to do & not do, kind of thing

I'm not a DJ, I'm a musician who is currently in the final process of getting together a set of acoustic cover versions to play around pub/bars etc where I live in Liverpool/north west, but I think what I'm doing is similar to what you guys do, entertaining the public, playing in pubs/clubs/ bars, pa systems, equipment and so on

I've already bought most of the main equipment I need, (line array PA, vocal fx, amps etc) but it's just the finishing touches I'm looking for now, things like lights, some kind of media player to play songs in between the gaps I won't be playing & singing

I found the forum after almost buying a Gemini DJ media player on a whim, but luckily I decided to read a few reviews first and everyone was pretty much saying DO NOT buy Gemini gear as it's junk compared to what's out there

Anyway, not to ramble on too much, I look forward to getting to know everyone a little bit and hope that maybe I can chip in with a few bits of advice/help myself from a musicians perspective

Cheers all

Hello and welcome. How's Pancho? ( poor musical whimsy there ) :)

We are a broad church, and welcome many folk who technically aren't DJs. Ask your questions, we're usually happy to offer advice.
