Two mixers into one set of speakers ?

I am doing a disco and providing the PA for a singer at the same function, my problem is I have my DJ mixer to plug into powered speakers and also a digital mixer for the singer I don't want to be switching in xlr cables as he is doing two sessions, neither do I think it would work to put two feeds into one set of speakers is there a simple solution?

What connections do both mixers have?

The Singer's mixer could go into yours so you control the overall levels, and just from yours into the speakers?

Or can the singers mic just plug into your mixer removing the need for a 2nd mixer?

I did try going mixer into mixer but it didn't work just a loud hum, to be honest, I bought the digital mixer for this situation because I don't think the mic on a DJ mixer is that great for singers.

Many modern active speakers have two line channel inputs, often switchable between line and mic. If your speakers are thus enabled, DJ mixer/controller feeds channel 1 on each speaker, while singer's mixer feeds channel 2 on each.

The Polars would make this a doddle, which is one reason I got them.

Which DJ and Digital mixers do you have? It should be easily possible to feed one mixer into the other if there is a spare input on one of them?

Do you know which DNX you've got? How have you tried to link the mixers so far? I'd think you'd need a cable for twin phono to twin 1/4" jack and go from the outs on the Denon into channels 5/6 or 7/8 on the Behringer? How many channels are you using on the Behringer - do you have a spare set of stereo inputs?

AS mentioned - mixer into mixer into speaker should work fine, strange that, I have done it many times, sounds like maybe a lead issue ?

If they are your speakers then their mixer goes via your mixer so that you retain final control over their output levels so you can protect your speakers.

I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I have been very busy and away on holiday, yes it went very well I ended up downloading the singer's MP3 files onto my playout system and putting effects mixer through my DJ mixer mic input, so I was able to play the songs when he was ready to sing and cut the reverb when he was talking, unfortunately, fees on the Isle of Wight are not great only £200 each but If we did a wedding on the mainland think we could charge considerably more, people really enjoyed themselves.

Sorry, but this is not true, and I know from personal experience.

I'm not in the industry anymore, so have no qualms sharing what I was charging.

My all day fees were between £895 - £995.

And my evening only fee was between £450 - £600.

My typical evening rate was £495.

And this was 2017/2018, so would be higher now.

I was working at Albert Cottage, Landguard Manor, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Lisle Combe, Northwood House, Hasley Manor and a number of private venues such as farms.

When I arrived in 2017, I was too told then that people don't pay "mainland prices" on the Island. I proved that wrong.

Equally, the grass is not greener. Most places on the mainland you'll hear people saying "they won't pay above that round here".

The only thing I'd say is that on the Island, I was very much seen as a "premium" offering. On the mainland, those prices a upper-average fees - premium is considerably higher.

But I carved out a niche for being "reassuringly expensive" on the Island. In many cases, I was the only DJ option they would consider. And I often performed alongside bands too.

You must have carved out a niche market well done !

But I stand by my quote the clubs and hotels will not pay any more than £200 to £300 over here, which I'd rather take than nothing.

The clubs and hotels in ANY part of the UK are loathe to part with anything more than £300 for a Disco/DJ. That's because they're taking £450+ from their customers, having to pay £75 to the VAT man and then pocketing the other £75. Add an agent into that equation who also has to pay VAT and make a living and you get DJ's who are still being paid £200 when they could be getting the £450 the customer is handing over if they could be bothered to market their services directly to the public.
