The JBL IRX ONE All-in-One Column PA features an advanced acoustic package, 3-channel mixer and Bluetooth 5.0 audio streaming – all packed into an incredibly easy-to-use system that can be carried with one hand.
Price £750- Amazon.
The good - It's light and the whole thing packs away into one box.
the sound quality is excellent and unit is equipped with a 'DJ' setting.
The Bad - Despite it's output of 1000w, I felt even two together would struggle out of a very small room.
I feel the unit would be ok for anyone starting out, you can get them for a lot cheaper than amazon, or for a solo artists who want something portable and easy to use.
But as a mobile DJ they just didn't meet my requirements.

I heard this demoed a while back, and I was impressed with it, but:
pretty much the same issue as (almost ) all the column rigs. To get the required volume, you end up in Db1203/Maui44 territory, with unwieldy, heavy rigs. All the 10"/12" driver units which are easily portable are the same to a degree. As Clint said, " man's gotta his ( rig's ) limits". :D

Got to agree with the man
The only 'decent' column speaker I have heard is the RCF Evox 12 - but for the size, weight and cost I think I would prefer a 'standard' 4 box system. Once you get to these bigger column speakers you lose the aesthetics and ease of use which make them desirable
HOWEVER, it is worth considering how loud you need speakers. Loud noise seems to be becoming as anti-social as smoking and drink-driving, not to mention the amount of venues with sound limiters in place. Even in theatre they are reducing sound output levels.
I am (again) doing a school prom type event in January with 250 students. I will be using 2 evox 8 as I have done for many years and never had any complaints, in fact they have already passed on the date for 2026. So if it is good enough for them ............ Maybe we just want too much.

Interesting - all the feedback I've heard on the Evox 12 previously is that it doesn't really give you much more than the Evox 8 - except the extra size weight and cost that you mention!
But I agree, especially for larger events, a 4 box system ticking along is always going to sound far better and more pleasing to the ears than the Evox 8 being pushed to its limits.
Perversely, a 4 box system can sound a little too clean, even at a decent volume - so for the punters doesn't sound "loud" - it's almost as if that near distortion of a speaker close to its limits is what sounds "loud".

I've worked with a few performers who have had Evox 8 and J8 systems in wedding venues designed for around 120-150 guests with audiences of around 60-80 on the dance floor at any given time and the only feedback I've ever heard from photographers, guests, venue staff, etc is that it's been too loud!!
To my ears, as someone who now works out front as often as I am behind the decks, a pair of Evox 8s is fine for most events.
