Greetings All,

I have mentioned this else where but I thought I would mention it on this forum.

As a few of you know I specialise in Childrens Parties therefore I am
"The Master of The Party Dance"

I have noticed that there are a lot of members who do not know the routines to various songs so I have made a desission to help!!!

Early next year I will be producing a dvd to detail all the actions to all of the most popular party dances.

These will include all of Rik + Nik's routines.

Here is the million dollar question, If I did go ahead with this progect, would anyone be interested?

regards

Sounds good to me Gary - and I'm sure you could easily sell it through ebay (even though it sadly might get ripped off in time) - I've not seen anything like this and can admit I'd definately order a copy as I often feel a right t!t not knowing the dances that the kids do.

Could you include other things - Saturday Night, etc - as I've always been caught out by that one?

Leigh....

This is something I've actually actively been looking for for ages!

One of the Kids Party CDs did have an accompanying DVD with it which was supposed to be showing all the dance routines.... but what was on there was useless!

EDIT: Just to mention though..... you'll have to go through all the hassle of getting permission to use the tracks on the DVD!

Mayhem 1

Rik % Nik are the two guys resposible for 99% of the party dances used on holiday centres (Haven, pontins etc etc)

Do you know which tracks you will show?

I only ask as I already have the Rik and Nik video showing their dances (except the Big Fish Little Fish song as it was too new!?!).

I know the dances to a number of songs (Caraticus, Macarena (including both teenage versions) etc etc), so would be interested to see which ones you are talking about including to see if it is useful.

If it contains alot I don't know then I would definately get it...

I do a funny dance to the birdie song at all kids parties from 4-6 (sometimes even 7). Kids love it and so do the parents when they are actually doing it...

Works really well...

There will be further details after the Easter start to my season at Brean Leisure.

Hi Rik,

Welcome to the forum. Feel free to introduce yoursef in the 'newbies' forum section.

I read elsewhere that Mayhem's DVD idea has been binned due to copyright and licensing. Pity, as I thought it was a great idea. I'm sure 'Mayhem' will provide you with further details when he reads this topic.

I've had some success at younger kids parties (say 6-10 years) with the videos on the "Wow! Let's Dance" series of DVDs that Amazon sell, like this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FWow-Lets-Dance-Vol-7%2Fdp%2FB00006IIZU%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Ddvd%26qid%3D 1191949767%26sr%3D8-11&tag=pumbieworld-21&linkCode=ur2&camp=1634&creative=6738).

The songs are not originals but in most cases they're close enough for the age group.

I originally tried just #1 and used 'Saturday Night', 'YMCA' and 'Witchdoctor' but now I've ordered a few more in the series to get some of the other songs on there. Have to say most of the newer ones are a bit lacking in useful content.

Basically what you get is a bunch of professional dancers on a stage doing the moves to the entire song, end-to-end. Perfect.

Greetings,

The DVD has now been shelved due to licencing and copyright.

It is a shame but the law is the law and I do not infringe copyrite laws its just not fair to the owners.

Therefore, all I can say is if you have a Children's party I could always come and do the routines live!!!

i seriuously thought about this last year, wanted to get a local dance group to dance the steps etc and record them (wearing t-shirts advertising the disco) and paying them a fee (helps thier funds) the idea would then be to play the dvd via tv's when i played these songs so guests could always follow the on screen instructions

Couldn't you do a silent version on say you tube just for the lads? (& lasses)
ie name of song as title then a vid of you doing the funky chicken or whatever, or is it the dance that is copyright rather than just the music.

Great idea Garry... sadly there's so much legal cr*p in the way of this.
Your idea does sound like the Wow lets dance series but I've never seen Rik'n'Nik on them.

Really need to get learning some of the Rik'n'Nik routine's:)

Update us if there anymore progress on this.

Please Please Please do this, even if you sell it on the Q.T.
Ive been practicing the Black Lace moves on you tube for ages.

Just stick a DVD with it all on would be worth at least £50 of any Kids DJ earnings.

Nice one

Think you need to learn about the ethics of people using this forum and our strive to improve peoples perception of mobile discos.

As mentioned due to current laws Mayhem is unable to produce this DVD.

Shame, as you say would be worth its weight in gold IMO

And NOT just DVD-RW

I've got the John Fowler's Rik and Nik DVD, and that's pretty incredible to watch. It's incredibly high energy, I'd die after 2 tracks doing the moves at the speeds they do.

I'd definitely be up for a copy if you can get round the copyright issues!

What a shame, but at least Once the copyright stuff is sorted, you'll be pretty safe there

I would continue filming (if possible) and eventually you'll probably be able to produce the DVDs

You'd think they'd want a cut of it though

Who have pulled out, is it Rik and Nik?
