So who's looking forward to December then?

How do you prepare for it - disco wise?

Extra lamps? Clean your gear ready? Do those outstanding repairs?

Where's everyone working? Different venues or residencies?

How do you prepare for it - disco wise?I presume you mean other than 'blind panic' and running around like a headless chicken? :D :D

....as one of our DJs said to another..... just make sure that you eat and sleep alot in November, because you won't again until January!!!!!! ;)

Getting their for christmas im out 9 times at the moment for December, been cleaning all the lenses on my lights testing equitment etc. Looking forward to it all though. Wish I had a few more but we take what we can, had to turn down about 14 different clients all wanted the same day.
Looking quiet until march though, hope it picks up after christmas.

Remember to get the old ready meals in for when you get in late lol, cant beat a post disco snack.

I'm cringing already thinking about all the requests for the festive music. "It's chriiiiistmaaaaaas!!!". Ever I ever met Noddy Holder I'd probably wallop him for years of audio abuse.

Preparation for December usually involves stocking plenty of beer in the fridge so I can have a chilled "unwind" when I get home from each gig.

I'm out every Fri, Sat, Sun in December and a few week nights as well. All work is in the three big Britainia hotels here in sunny Blackpool. Doing NYE at the Norbreck Castle.

Upgrading my light rig in time for Xmas and then pay it off with all the money I am going to earn. Will post some pics of the new and improved rig once I am happy with it, will be a lot more tidy than the last rig.

The reason I was thinking about this is because I've spent the last two weeks invoicing, sorting out who's going where, putting together another show for a venue where I'm leaving kit and doing DJ info forms etc etc etc etc

Just about finished now though.

Yay! Beer time!!!

Mine all know.

Mind you, it has changed 3 or 4 times this week, due to last minute bookings coming in.

Strange thing this year..... we've got the beginning of December completely booked out; plus almost all week-nights; plus NYE; plus a couple between Christmas and New Year........ but the 2 Saturdays closest to Christmas (16 & 23) we've still got a bit of capacity!

9 & 15 December could've gone 10 times over though!!!!

We're all booked for december, got some spaces, but as said, take what we can. Had a couple of enquiries regarding January, so like most im hoping everyone will be booking last minute, and all will be fine!

Must clean those lenses though, especially on the scans :(

I'll be needing some speed this chrimbo, i've done 4 out of my 32 christmas do's already (first one was on the 17th nov) and i'm knackered already. Going to sort out my rig tomorrow to try to make it easier to set up , plus i've got to make space on it for 2 imove 5s (HID). Plus i'm taking bookings for 2007 weddings that involve the new big rear projection screen setup (that i haven't finished building yet) and some 70's do's that involve using my led panels (which i havent finished making the stands yet)...arrrggggh.

ps. plus i still havent got my head round all the dmx programming!!!

Mines is strangely similar too..except I could have filled the 16th and 23rd about a half dozen times each. I still haven't filled December 9th, lots of enquiries but all just price shopping for the lowest quote. To be honest I'm hoping no last minute bookings come on for that date. Looking forward to taking the missus out for a nice meal that night and making the most of it.

total oposite for me 1st & 2nd 8th, 9th, 15th 16th 31st booked up nicely but 22 to 24th nothing Im very supprised all seems very quiet round town that weekend bar the usual suspects am expecting last minute emergencies as usual

Yes, and there are two reasons for that.

1) There are a lot of cowboys operating around blackpool who let people down at last minute. The number of calls I get asking if I am availble that same day because there DJ has let them down is stupid.

2) A lot of the smaller hotels won't commet to booking a DJ until a few days before.

Xmas parties start for me on Tuesday & Wednesday next week (but then nothing on the first weekend in December ! )

I've invested in some additional Abstract XP lighting effects from Paul Arnett (some of which I may be selling as I don't need the whole set).

I'm working mainly at one venue, which is being supported by 'cameo' appearances at two others.

And, thanks to Steve, have invested in a couple of the Brian Stezer Xmas CD's. I listed to one yesterday and it is really brilliant and a nice change from the usual Xmas background stuff I normally play. Well done Steve. :D

Just picked up 6 new LED pars to play with, and cleaned some of my other lighting. Could do with giving amplifiers a clean too, might give that a go next week.

Got about 10 christmas parties, 5 lunchtime parties, about 5 corporates, and a few bits of equipment hire.
