So what do you do with 80 to 100 7 to 10 year olds at a disco???
I may have been mad accepting this one, however I'm playing a 1 hour slot, at the end of a Brownie (Guide thing) Christmas fun day. So i've got one hour to entertain the little buggers, so what should I be doing with this vast amount of kids?
Also, any particular tunes that I should knock on? I hear kids today don't like Dalphene and Celeste (much to my disapointement).
Any help much appreciated.

Right Number 1; Turn around and run :D Joken :D
OK
To me the great floor fillers are the ones of the Pop party CD's and the LATEST Now CDs

Right-o,
and can I just leave them to it?n It's only for an hour, so I should be able to avoid musical bumps etc right

I am reliably informed that Hannah Montana, Lazytown and High School Musical are among the top choices.

I did my daughters party recently and she was 9.
She and her friends like all the cheesy poppy stuff around at the moment, plus all the party dances - macarena, YMCA etc etc and a bit of interactive stuff too.

I did a School Disco for a similar number a couple of months back. What's the word i'm looking for - MAYHEM!!
Tried to organise games - no chance, especially as the parents and teachers were too busy gassing to try and help. Gave up in the end and just played the music, with 'the best Girl' and 'Best Boy' dancer having prizes at the end.
The music taste was wide and varied from the Pop Party style to Queen, TV Theme tunes, Alice Cooper and Green Day (didn't play the last one though!).
If you only have an hour, i agree that there's not alot that you can do Games-wise. High School Musical - any of them go down well - especially for the girlies.
Freebies - Glo-sticks/bracelets or even something simple like balloons (as long as you don't have to clear up the mess!)
Good Luck! I think you'll need it!

You might want to wear your headphones all the time as well. I remember many years ago doing a christmas party for around the same age group. I couldn't hear the music for their shouting and screaming.

All I can say is you are a braver man than me! I don't do kids disco's, in fact due to a bad experience at girls 16th party, I now only do 21st birthdays and above.
Have a disco

will not do kids parties for children this age range full stop but will do over 10 yrs of age they then stop running about like lemmings and start dancing to what you play.

The younger ones also dance and enjoy themselves if you engage and entertain them - running around like lemmins suggest they are bored.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, especially ians "go to the pub" - Excellent!
I was considering just taking half the sound rig, but I think I may take the full sher-band after those "noise" comments, so thanks for that!
Cheers,
Will.

Good Morning Folks,
My third party yesterday was attended by 135 children 5 - 10 year olds and I would like to say it was one of the best I have ever done!!!!!
Grab their attention right at the start, unleash a fast paced show (games and party dances and you will have no probs.
Regards

Job Completed.
Didn't need to walk away to the pub. However a trip to Esso to stock up on coke was required.
One hour went fine (Thanks to Santa - who go the kids dancing).
All in all, pretty good :)
