To View or Not to View???

I've had a couple of clients recently who want to come and see the show before booking.The venues on the other hand are not so keen to allow outsiders in to a private party?

What's your thoughts guys?

I have always felt somewhat awkward with this one, so always say no - maybe ask the potential client how they would feel if it was there party? Having said that, as I do early morning set ups, I have no issue if people want to pop in and see me at a venue then...

It's the Venue who are not keen to have other people coming to events

crazy k is the man to talk to hes had alot of success with this one ..... i have in the past said to people they can come at say 7 if its a 8pm start or before guests arrive if im able to set up early enough to do this.

I would never allow a prospective client to come to someone elses party.

Why would you?

It is a private event, end of story.

That's my thoughts! I had already met the client to discuss everything they seemed happy but then they wanted to come to someone elses night just to make sure

I would explain to them that you tailor your services for each individual function and what they might see at someone elses party might not be to their taste or what they are expecting for theirs.

I agree with Darren, I'd feel really cheeky asking someone if i could bring a prospective client along to their wedding.

I have been asked before, but they've understood once i've explained why not, also as Darren says, one wedding might want cheese all night and your client might want decent music so they wouldn't be impressed if they came along to the cheesy gig.

this is very true daz and if they want to see the set up theres pics on a website and movies etc. none of my clients have been allowed to actually see me working (unless theyve booked me or a guest to cover myself from dazs quick wit lol) just what it all looks like beforehand?????

I've got a couple of short vids on my website (that need updating really), one that has lights whizzing around and the other has lots of dance floor action.

Couple that with a few piccys and a bit of convincing on the phone and they shouldn't need to come and see you work.

I would never let a prospective client visit me during someone else event.

a) My time during the event is devoted to the current client.

b) All events are different and tailored to each client. What the 'prospective client' wants may differ to the clients party that they've come to view

c) Each party is a private affair. If I was throwing a party and I hired entertainment, I certainly wouldn't want strangers "gatecrashing" my event just so they can have a preview of the entertainer.

I have testimonials from past clients if future customers want to get a feel for the service I offer.

If your client is ok with it and the venue is not a regular then i would let them veiw you, i have and it has never caused a problem..

To be honest this is something we've never been asked to do. I would be inclinded to say no. If they persissted, I may even go to the lengths of setting up for them prior to the disco just for them to see. But thats a bit of a long shot!

Never had such a request, but there is no way I would honour it!

They most likely would want to see you in action when things get going, so a visit just after setting up is pretty much useless.

How very rude it would be to attend someone else's party uninvited :thumbs_down:
