God - we must have one of the most boring Xmas houses on the planet - never put anything in the windows apart from Xmas cards, two small trees about 3ft high (any higher and the cats climb them or pull them over!), few candles here and there, no streamers or 'nick-nack' decorations as me and wife think they are so tacky and the rest is mainly strings of cards all around the place and other displays of cards.

I think this is because both me and wife came from families who spent a fortune on the house each year so it looks like a grotto for 3 weeks - and then have to look at a very depressing bare house in January again.

We just enjoy the peaceful and spiritual time Christmas brings, visiting family and friends, doing our community bit (which was this evening - me playing Santa after kids pantomime) and to get a chance to spend time together and even go away for a day or so in the motorhome.

We also take the decorations down on New Years Day - why wait for '12th Night' - as we are all back at work within a few days, the kids back at school and who wants to return to Xmas decorations then?

Not really Scrooge - just think we celebrate things our own way and in our own style - actually it's rare to find us in the house over Xmas - so why dress the place up just to sleep here and go out again the next day?
