Over the last 10 or 11 days my phone hasn't stopped ringing about enquiries for childrens' parties.
I have done childrens' parties for years and it's never been as busy on the enquiry front as it is now.
A young lad (local to me) left school last year and has set-up his own 'advertising agency' (OK he has big ideas and is probably running this from his room at his parents house), he is going around all the local business's and offering 'an evaluation and suggestion service'.
To be honest I only agreed to it as a favour for one of his relatives and he came round to talk to me, his suggestion was for him to print up some flyers and photo-copy them and then he would distribute them at the gates of local schools to mum's who were picking up their kids.
Apparently he could do all this for £100, but it was his enthusiasm that I liked and simply so as not to dis-hearten him I agreed, I half expected not to receive a single enquiry and suspected he wouldn't actually do anything, how wrong I was.
Maybe he just knows everybody or maybe he just targetted schools where he knows a lot of mum's but wow the number of calls I have had and the number of bookings I have taken.
I would never have thought of that, and even if I had I wouldn't have had time to do it so I'm delighted and so is my 'advertising agent' who was given a 'retainer' today for 2007.
He'll go far will that kid and good luck to him
