Not quite sure where this post fits, but coming from the fine town of Ipswich, I just felt it right to make mention of the apauling events of the last few weeks and in some way express my sympathy to the families (it really doesn't matter what these young girls chose to do for a living or what you may think about that, the events are very unpleasent).

I am planning to go late night shopping tonight and haven't been back into town since it all happened, but i understand it is a quite and deserted place right now. The last three girls were all found about three quarters of a mile from where we were living (we moved out to a little place called "Saxmundham" last Friday) so it does bring things home a little.

So far no gigs actually in town, but we are out at a party just outside the town this week - I wonder how cheary that will be?

It is aweful Rice, but I'm not sure this is totally relevant or really needed on the forum.

I understand in a way how you feel rice. We had an incident at a venue we do where a young girl leaving our venue was murdered. It was really hard for the whole crew to stay positive and give a good show the next week and following weeks. We found the support of our clients and customers and other Djs was invaluable whilst bearing in mind we had to support our customers as well.

I think this forum is important that we can suport each other in difficult times.

I think a lot of the discussions here can be pointless or unrelevent at times, but talking about something of this scale that happens on your doorstep and potentially has a direct impact on the job that I do is hardly that is it.

Canary - you have it spot on, thanks

There's another scary thing to add to this (for me) that one of the girls came from near me!!!!:eek:

It really brings thing home when you know someone or somewhere that things like this happen. The last three girls were found somewhere that I have diven past numerous times - in fact for the last 6 months passed the end of the road every day.

It makes me somewhat aprehensive with my Saturday night gig - pub in an isolated village (like Nacton) near Ipswich....

I still don't agree that discussing a murder case is really appropriate for a mobile disco forum.

I hope your saturday night gig goes OK. I know its not easy and very unnerving. Myself and the canary crew will be thinking of you and everyone in Ipswich. I really hope this animal gets caught soon.

Hi Ricesnaps, I live in Harwich and have got a gig Tommorow in Ipswich Along Bramford Road. Iam a bit concerned as a female friend will be running it for me for a few hours as i have another gig in Southend, I think there will be an impact on business and the mood at the parties. Ricesnaps Iam looking for some more people to pass bookings onto would you be interested?:)

Count me in 5 star the more the merrier

But will say that this is having a knock on trade in one sense but people are now thinking before they walk to these places that are near to Portman road yes near ITFC ground exactly where these girls are and have mainly been picked up from. A very scary thought that all the decent nightclubs are very close and are feeling the pinch now thanks to this sad person/s

I think "sad person/s" is understating things just a touch....

Well at the end of the day, although very very sad, we are tought from an early age, dont talk to strangers, let alone get in the car with them. These girls are playing a deadly game every night. I just hope other woman/girls use their heads, walk in groups, dont stop and talk to strangers, AND DONT get in their cars!! Life still goes on, it did after 7/7 and 9/11. Its just a fact of life that there are sick people out there.
