I have a friend who is a regular DJ of mine and I have had money issues with him. I need to ask your opinion on what pay for my DJ friend should be?

What would you say is a fair price to pay him assuming he comes around with his own CD's and CD decks (as he prefers his) and uses all my gear. This would be a regular Saturday night gig at a local hotel with a standard Mackie SRM450 sound system from 7.30 - 12.30. If we assume without going in to details that everything is as you would expect of a 'standard DJ'ing' situation (No stairs, ground floor etc).

And then the same prices for NYE on the same basis??

I used to use a dj on a similar basis and I used to give him 50% of the fee. The more I earned the more he earned. Worked for us.

Is this DJ on your PAYE, or is he a sub-contractor?

Will make a big difference to the expected pay.

if its basically your amps/speakers/lights then I would have thought 35% fair - after all you have to maintain the equipment.

I agree with Theo - 50%.

What you didn't say is who is setting up the gear?
If it's him then maybe a bit more.

"White glove" jobs around your area would be perhaps £200 for a standard night and £350 for a New Year's eve, so that should guide you, but bear in mind they don't include a need to transport and set up any kit.

I would also go with 50-50, give him a rubbish deal and he might not respect your gear :Naughty:
