I have bought one of these telly's, and I am having a problem with it. The screen flickers when watching programs (noticed today it seems like studio programs such as BBC's Just The Two Of Us, X-factor etc (fair enough telly doesn't even like these shows lol). Also when playing certain games on the Sky Gamestar and also on a sky+ recording of only an excuse.

Have been in contact with Sky, who tested the sky+ box on another telly and it was fine, just not on my LCD one.

Tried using other setting's,cables, connecting to sky in other ways etc nothing seems to work.

Its perfect for playing the Xbox 360 on, but i really need help!!!

Done a google search and seemingly there is a fix, anyone aware of this?

Why not see if you can borrow a friends sky box or something to do your own test. If it is you can then tell Sky that the box is faulty and proove it

Are we saying generally a plasma is a better buy for reliability and picture quality than LCD?

I have to buy a new TV soon and wondered which might be better long term.

Havent bought a big telly for about 15yrs:D

No we had a Sony Plasma ,before we had the burglars visit:( and the problem is the Plasma works of s gas cell and can burn images into the screen

We now have a Sony LCD HD and not only is the picture better but it is just as reliable:)

I did rather a lot of research into this before buying mine and the general concencus seemed to be: up to 37" lcd and over 37" plasma.

Have a search on Google and it will tell you why PLasma (in most cases) is better.

Which says basically the same thing as the link I put up.

Do a bit of research into screen burn Colin, and you'll find for normal viewing conditions it doesn't really exist.

Take it from me IT DOES as we have used both and they have both been Sony which is high quality
No screenburn - Plasma screens are suspectible to something called screenburn, which occurs when a bright image, like the sky news logo, is displayed on screen for an extended period of time. The constant saturation 'tires' plasma's phosphors, leaving a permanent shadow of the bright image behind. LCD technology is pretty much immune to this problem.

OK, I'm not going down the 'mine is better then yours' route Colin.

I have read many reports on this and screen burn virtually does not exist (go and Google for test results if you want)

ok guys just to let you know, I have found the probem isn't with the TV, its actually the sky+ box, the engineers tested the box on another TV and there was no problem with it, but back onto the LCD and it started flickering again, i have since borrowed my mates amstrad Sky+ box (i have the Thompson) and there was no problems. After googling i found that the Thompson box has a low refresh rate so it is a poorer box that is not really future proof. So i am trying to contact sky to get a replacement box, trouble is its 35 minutes queue, so need to find another number.

LOL ,and after all that ,now that is interesting as we have seemed to encountered the same problem from time to time and corrected it by pushing any connecting scart leads in only to find that it can re occur after this

It also seems to happen when you are trying to record 2 programmes at once on Sky+

I think we will also have to get Sky to look at our box:) :) :) :)

Feedback: Yesterday the sky engineer popped in to see what he could do, after initially the advisor saying i don't think he will give you a new box, it appears that i knew the engineer who asked what box i would prefer an amstrad or a pace, the pace PVR2 which was not a reconditioned box, so guess what i plumped for lol, also he gave me contact details to get a job doing the installing - so job applied for lol.
