PCDJ FX Controller

Hello

I have been using PCDJ FX for a while now, with just the keyboard and mouse.

Its about time I invested in a dedicated contoller.

Can anyone recommend one that will work with PCDJ FX other than the DAC2 & DAC3, around the same price range?

Also,

Does anyone have a redundant one lying around?

Or

One they want to get rid of before the wife/husband finds out you have been treating yourself again;)

What's wrong with the dac 2 / dac 3???

I have a Dac 3 and can't fault it. Had a numark DMC1 before that when i was using good old PCDJ Red 5.2 but it wasn't chipped so couldn't use it with Virtual DJ hence getting a Dac 3. Must say it's one of the best moves i made. OK it's and extra 1U higher but the extra buttons are very useful when in Use...

There is nothing wrong with dac2/dac3 as I have used them before.

I know these controllers and was wondering if there were any alternatives.

Also everything in my rack is silver, not a major issue but if there were other alternatives that were as good/better, that would influence my decision (or spray the DAC3 Silver!!)

i,ve seen them sprayed silver before, should be easy to do, remove faceplate and spray.

I have took the faceplate off one into work and had sprayed and had the original text etched back on for a friend, so there are no problems there.

Just does anyone recommend anything other than DAC2/3

The origional PCDJ controller may work if you can get hold of one.... the Numark DMC 1..... It's shiny silver too :D

Would check with PCDJ to make sure it still works with newer versions though as i only used it with red 5.2

Hi all

I have just started using my new laptop system which consists of the latest version of the 00dj and with this I am using the DAC-3 controller. It's early days yet (only my second disco last night) and mostly it's proving a sound investment.

I have come across a little problem though with the DAC-3 controller and I wondered if anyone had any ideas or solutions...

As you maybe aware the dac-3 is powered by USB connection to the laptop (no mains) but it has been freezing on a few occasions during my performance. Last week I was able to recover it by clicking on the Test button on the CFG (configuration) screen in PCDJFX (the software I am using) and it reset with no other problem, but last night it froze the system TWICE!

On the first occasion the whole system froze and I had to do a complete system restart so luckily I got the birthday boy's girlfriend to sing happy birthday while I restarted the system. Second time I got the birthday boy to do a speech but luckily I only had to restart the software this time. Can anybody using this or similar controllers suggest anything I could do to prevent the controller from freezing? I am taking a backup CD player tonight so I can revert to that if it happens again while I reset things. I’m also going to change the usb lead as the other looks a little old and I will connect it to the usb port that isn't attached directly to the motherboard (hopefully this will prevent a system freeze or crash). Anyways the disco went well last night apart from these slight hiccups but thought I'd post a thread to see if anyone has any suggestions or had similar problems with the DAC-3 freezing like this?

Just to add to the above I did email PCDJ last week about the controller freezing and they suggested I connect it to the usb port which is connected directly to the main motherboard. I did this last night but with the system feezing completely this is why I will use another another port tonight.

Not sure if it will help or not, but try using a powered hub between the DAC & the laptop.

You may also want to try useing another USB cord and maybe use a program called enditall on the pc. This shuts down all the stuff running in the background thats not needed
