Have been asked to quote for a disco with a maximum of 2000 people. I would need to hire in sound and probably light for this but the question is what should I be looking at. If it helps room dimensions are L 49m x W 24m x H 19m

Cheers guys

Sam

It depends alot on the style of music they want. 2000 clubbers would want alot more than a 2000 strong wedding crowd.

You're talking probably 10-15k at least though.

It is a corporate party and they want a good mix from 50's to current chart. The venue have more than likely got a PA in the room in question that I can use so think I will make enquires about that, otherwise I will have to refuse the gig.

Can't you team up with another DJ? I quite often split large gigs and its handy to have another DJ to share the workload.

surely it depends on the size of the dancefloor- you don't need to fill the whole room, just the dance area.
before you refuse why not speak to another disco in your area- 2 discos combined is usually enough- can give you the details of a mobile disco in Liverpool if you want..pm me for more info.

Yes, thats a very good idea. I know a couple of DJ's up here so will have a chat with them.

Even with two DJ's combind we still won't have enough omph in our sound so may still need to hire in PA if the venue does not have one pretty sure they will have though.

If you need some help / kit give me a ring... throughout december i was doing functions for up to 1200 people per night in Kent and have enough additional kit that would make a PA system loud enough for a 2000 people corporate function...

As others have said i think the main thing is that the dance floor is loud enough - then for the rest of the venue smaller speakers could be used to give a nice even sound throughout the venue...

It depends on how efficient the rig is really, but generally speaking, as Danno says, around 10 to 15k of a GOOD system will be enough.

Although, I have used my 6k rig for 3000 people, and been told to turn it down! :D

The void systems look mental from what I see!

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland?

Void are absolutely superb and are set to give the likes of Funktion 1 and Turbosound a real run for their money.

We have recently bought 11kw of Stasys boxes, after listening to many systems, and the Void just wipes the floor with the competition.

yes thats true the most important will be the bass bins could do with long throw folded bass bins to move the air around such a big venue

Correct, but only for HF. You still need a pro medium - long throw system to do the job properly. A pair of Peavey's 10ft up in the air might not 'hack it' :D

Don't get me wrong, the F218 bins & Res tops sound beautiful, I listened to both systems at Plasa one after the other and found the Void to have the same refinement and clarity as the FK1, however with more sheer brute force at the all important bottom-end!

The F218s are great paired with the Infrahorn, and the new F221s are rather evil too.

But looking at straight twin 18" horn loaded subs, the Stasys 8 at 106db 1w/1m and 2,000wrms/cab IMHO seriously outperforms the F218 at 105db 1w/1m and 900wrms/cab

Ok then I will take your word for it as you have heard them both and you are getting too techie for me:D :D

However I must admit that the Funktion 1s look more brutish:) :) :) :)
