radio mics

hi all

i've decided to buy some radio mikes for karaoke

i've currently got 3 sm58's but after reading through the karaoke forum it seems you get a load of drunks thinking they're roger daltry or freddie mercury & didnt fancy having the 3 mic's beeing swung around like that

what i'm after is a pair of wireless radio mic's so can anyone recommend any around the £200 price range that will do the job?

I use the rackmounted version for karaoke and they are fine, though they won't be SM58 quality.

If you wanted to stay with a leaded mic, then have a look on Ebay for a PG58 as I bought a few of them for PA hire and backup and they are very good too. I paid £30 for mine and that was delivered too.

The singer in our band decided to destroy his SM58 by smashing it on the floor 3 times in a hissy fit!! We had a gig to do on New Years Eve so he went out and bought the KAM 1940 set to see what it was like and I promise you the KAM's sounded better than the SM58 used to do.

I'd disagree with that, as I have both UHF SM58s and UHF Kams. No real comparison IMO. But for the price, they are very good.

We have just purchased a twin set of RSqs from EM karaoke and I am sure that these are the old SM58s of a few years back at £129 per pair for the UHF version they are first class better than my Audio Technica which was £434 :D

Why not go for cable microphones? Strongly recommend the Sennheiser 835. Fantastic sounding mic, and built like a tank.

ditto. i use 835's for my karaoke and they have been faultless for over 5 years ! plus they have a screw on the switch so you can set it permanantly on. ( very handy as most karaoke singers are drunk or idiots and dont understand an on/off switch )

They are useless - I bought some out of interest, thought they might do as a back up. Apart from the fact that they operate on an illegal frequency, they "hiss" really badly and the sound reproduction from them is very tinny. Ideal for the kids to play with!
