external hardrive which one is the best

I'm currently in the same position.

I've got 3 maxtor external's in use in the home and I've not had a problem with them...although I've read about many issues with the maxtors.

I've just ordered 2 of THESE (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000EXZAOY/ref=nosim/accessleedsco372-21) for going digital. Great price and Western Digital appear to be a decent brand.

I plan on mounting them on a sliding a rack drawer from Terralec.

They definitely are a decent brand! Seem to come recommended (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=24336228386&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X3Jldmlld3M=&product_uid=109356) aswell :thumbs_up:

In my mixed experiences with hard drives over the past 10 years, I can say that WD, Seagate, IBM and Maxtor are the top brands for reliability. The worst would be Samsung :(
