what is the law for strobe lighting now, is it official that if we use one or many do we have to pin warnings up around the venues now.:bang:

Lighting effects with strobe scenes built into the factory settings are a pet hate of mine. If I wanted strobe lighting I'd buy a strobe.

My eurotechs strobe in s2l, but not that fast really. Certainly not any where near the capacity of a dedicated "strobe light". They don't do it too often anyway, and only on the off chance it does it on open white which is the one that gets you as it were.

I hate it. The moving heads do it, and all I do is turn them off and back on again with the CA-8.

So DID mine. I went to a local DJ shop and they kindly glued some coloured glass (sorry can't remember the type of glass) to the two apertures and HEY PRESTO no more strobe http://planetsmilies.net/cool-smiley-4971.gif

I think units that arn't strobing is a great idea. However I agree strobing is not suitable for 100% of the mobile disco. I guess the reason you guys are having to "fight the strobe" is because you are using the units pre-programmed scenes (and fair play to you). I think manufacturers should offer a "no-strobe" dip switch or not include strobing in their pre-programmed scenes as they never pop up in the right point of the song anyway!

However, when DMX'ed and at the right time these units (that have been doing everything else under the sun all evening) can strobe when you want, and you can manually make it match the music. I wouldn't want to use a "normal" strobe light in 99% of cases because they tend to be much harsher on the eyes than the effects with built in strobes.

You could always leave them on all night, hang them with string from your crossbar and just give them a little push every now and again. Sorted!. :)
