Over the last couple of years I've done quite well on local searches for google position, usually in the top 2 or 3. All of a sudden I've been overtaken by a famous Disco from out of area- they must be famous as they have appeared on Television! This seems to have been achieved by the practice of key word stuffing- is this now regarded as a legitimate practice? If not, what can be done about it?Or is it a case of just doing the same thing?

Its not illegal as such,but in saying that Google and certain engines will either ban the site or not rank it highly over a period of time

As I see it either give your keywords a re-config or sit and wait:)

Agree. I have two sites - one which has been static since about October and which google last crawled in November, and my main one which I update something on at least once a week, even if it's just the availability calendar. Google crawls the main site every 2 or 3 days.

I'd say get on there at least once a week and change something no matter how trivial!

Just make sure your site is optimised.. you can't complain that they have over taken you really.. it is all part of website designing and managing a website.

By keyword stuffing though.. how do you mean? What is the url?
There are certain types of this that google will ban them for.

Try checking googles webmaster pages.

Google doesn't like keyword stuffing and you'll probably find they disappear without trace after a while.

Pete.. what search term are you using? You seem to be top most of the time for various ones i've tried. As has been said, you need to update your site every now and again, even if its just changing wording, keywords etc. else google gets "bored" with it.
