Secondhand Now's from eBay/carboots etc (Make sure they are original!) and Mastermix.
www.mastermixdj.com is the place. They do box sets which will get you up and running with a good cross section of music.
Buying the sets from Mastermix will be expensive, but I'm afraid if you want to get into the business properly, then that's the way it is.
Like any tradesman, you need to invest in decent tools, and that includes your music collection, it's probably the most valuable thing you will invest in.

i have seen those mastermix cds, silly questions but is a mastermix cd all mixed as one or does each tune play individualy? if that makes sence. they are expensive but from what iv seen you could but 10 of them an have very good range of music.

To get a lot of good material quickly, go for the Now... range, as mentioned, and also there are various School Disco and Reunited compilations which have some great stuff on them!!

You also should get a few 70's disco compilations, and the triple CD compilation entitled Party Animal is also a great buy ;)

Makes complete sense! They vary. Mastermix do have a couple of series that are mixed, but many are just compilation albums. Why not join the Mastermix forums, they will answer any questions about what's on which disk set. Oh, and they (sorry, we) are a nice bunch over there too :beerchug:

Don't forget DMC aswell -

The complination CD's are fantastic, also look at the "Party Classics" (Best of DMC party mixes) series, i always use them.
