moving heads on speakers

i have some floor/stage speakers. i notice the manual has a setting for speaker mounting. Would the vibration be ok for the lights? Has anyone tried them on top of their speakers?

I should imagine that the lamp will have less life if you put them on speakers with all the bass.

I use the speaker setting on the heads too most of the time, even though they're on a double bar, as it means the heads don't come behind and blind you!

i use the same setting too. i dont put mine on speakers but as above id imagine the vibration will have in the long run a negative effect on lamp life.

I've used them on the speakers several times. So far I've not noticed any reduction in lamp life, although I presume it will shorten the life span of the lamps.

not that bothered about lamps really, they are only a fiver, was more concerned with the effect itself, and falling off with the vibration.

I wouldn't have thought they fall off Paul - they are 12Kg after all and you only have JBLs.....:D :p

I'd rather have a couple of cheapie lights on my speaker stack than half a dozen pints :rolleyes: Dunno 'bout moving heads though!

I was just thinking that!

I'll only put them on if I'm happy the speakers are on solid ground and won't wobble, and that they can't easily be knocked by someone.

Could everyone please make sure they actually read my full post before posting, rather than skimming through it, picking out keywords, and therefore concluding that I said you are a cowboy if you put lights on top of your speakers... :rolleyes:

Bulbs are only a fiver, i,m not too concerened if a bulb gets 100 hours instead of 500

The 'movers' are heavy enough that you won't have to worry about them falling off the speakers. It's never been an issue for me anyway.

I stick moving heads on my speakers and have been doing for over a year now and the units in general are fine! As mentioned bulb life will be reduced slightly (still haven't changed mine though!) but they do look quite good when sat on the speakers!
