It says on my website the areas that we cover, which are mainly within around 60-70 miles of Reading. So this morning I got an email from someone wanting a quote for a teenage party in Fife!!
It's no problem and I've forwarded it on to Shaun (Elite DJ) so he can quote on it, but don't people actually read what's on a website?!
I just put Fife into the sat nav and it would be over 7 hours and 455 miles to get there...won't be doing that one then!:p
Anyone else get enquiries way out of your stated area?

Yes, a foreign sounding guy asking me to do a party for his 16 year old daughter. Was willing to pay £3000 for a 3 hour disco   ;)
Na, can't say that I have as of yet...

Thanks for forwarding the lead Darren, it's just 10 minutes away from me.
I've had a few enquiries to provide entertainment in Fife Washington, United States. This is despite me stating the area I cover on my website, you would also think the .co.uk suffix on my URL would be an indication of my location. :D

Did you give them a quote then. I think I would have. $8000 plus expenses and equipment hire costs. Perhaps they wanted someone from the "old country" to do their gig.

I have had a regular customer ask recently if I would go to Canada to do his wedding:eek:
He tells me that there are not many decent disco’s over there! (that he knows of anyway)
But I don’t think he will go for it when he realises just how much it would cost.

All the time, but we are in a more specialised area of entertainment so its not uncommon for me to travel 100 miles, im going to Tenterden in Kent in May
which is quite a long haul from memory.
Like Daz I just pass work on if its out of area or already booked.
But yes Daz and Dragonfly are right, people get attracted to your site so they think they would like YOU and YOUR SHOW.
Never mind about technical things such as where you are based!
My longest trip was to Sheffield
p.s. thats in the UK.

depends what you mean.
we recently went to bristol for a wedding which was approx 3 hours to get there.
also dj'd in gibraltar at a wedding and turned it into a holiday.
when i lived in sheffield i did a couple in liverpool- all way out of our "area" but i'm happy to do it if they are willing to pay.
i don't see it as any different to bands who travel the country.
if it was too far i'd just request accomodation.

Yeah, but this was for a teenage party.
They're hardly going to put you up for the night and pay me 15 hours travel money are they?

I think I can beat all posted so far.....
I was asked for a qute for a 2 hour kids party. Where was the client?
SOUTH AFRICA!!!!!!!
Often get requests that are so far away that t is totally impractical! Usually I point them in the direction of MDD, so hopefully some of you wil have gotten some work out of it!
I have to say though, I am often surprised at how many sites DON'T state the area that they cover

I done an engagement party in Surrey a couple of yers back and the client rang from South France begging me to do there Wedding in France. They tried the 'cheap holiday' tactic. If we put you and your partner up for 2 weeks in a 4 star hotel plus costs would you come and DJ? Concept was quite nice but looked at the weeks they wanted and had too many bookings over that time to consider this option!!
They were absolutly gutted.

at the end of the day if they are willing to pay then yes i will do it anywhere in UK, but i charge £1 per mile if outside 20 mile radius, and i would quote accordingly .
Mind you do have a gig in wrexham shortly......
