Where is the best place to buy decent ones, or are they all like Maplins?
Also in need of a good 10 way 13 amp power distribution

Where is the best place to buy decent ones,

RS Components
SKU 449-922
strong, quick & easy to wire, good cord-grips :)

or are they all like Maplins?

I wouldn't know, we don't purchase stock from high street retail outlets

Also in need of a good 10 way 13 amp power distribution

RSC stock a 9-way BS1363, SKU 851-662 or a 12-way SKU 851678
Keep mindful of the total load though, that's a lot of 13s off 1x13 :)

Maplin usually use skytec stock repackaged , so not a lot in it really. R.S components may be cheaper for bulk purchases though, but do add up the postage costs as well cause it may even out.

Only one main manafacturer of these parts, they all come out of the same factory. Just depends what type of plastic and grips used in the factory and who its shipped 2.
forgot to say bulgin and r.s parts are made in same factory have a friend that worked there a few years ago.

Bulgin Ltd are a quality UK manufacturer, and you are correct in stating they both supply their own products to RS, and manufacturer RS branded products

However, I would be interested in the source of information contained within your first two sentences!

The factory that does injection moulding has differenrt specs per manafacturer, so for example r.s may use mould number 7 with screw type 4 and gripper 1, but bulgin may use mould number 6 with screw type 4 and gripper type 2. Also different plastics are used depending on request, some plastics are softer and used as abs others may contain fibre glass and be strong but brittle depending on requirments.
If r.s only paid for type one plastic but bulgin payed for type 4 with all the additives bulgin would feel better quality, the screws wouldnt split plastic when over tightened etc.
I used to work for a company called solentc who used to be the only manafacturer of solonoids in the country, we made them for generic brand names and big brand names and depending on components used one would be better than the other. But made by same factory. Likewise my friend who used to work an electronics encapsulating company used to make all the moulded type plugs and he said same thing they make for all brands and use different quality materials depending on client.

Hope this answers it
