Just in the process of looking for a DMX controller so I can do a little more with my lighting.

Read Will's thread where he suggests this:

http://www.chauvetlighting.com/syste...res/dmx50.html

However, currently I would be happier to look at something similar, but 2nd hand or much cheaper (I have ventured down the controller route before and ended up frustrated and given up, so £200 would be an expensive toy!).

Found this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=280075650690&rd=1&rd=1

Which looks kinda similar - any thoughts?

Might help to explain what I want to do....

Want to be able to run shows, but specifically set up "coloured" shows, using all of my lighting together rather than just running there own patterns - currently have Leo's / Scimitars linked to each other, then fascinations linked etc... so effectively combinations of internal programs, but not talking to each other. Would like, for example to be able to run white lighting show for first dances (lots of requests for this). Also really keen to be able to pick up one of my Leo's and use the joystick to spotlight a couple...and so on

Am I looking at the right sort of thing? Or are there better suggestions. Don't really want to spend more than £100, but 2nd hand is more than fine

Have heard very good reports on this but I dont have one to pass comment on yet. At £125 inc post it seems very reasonable for a new/gteed dmx desk.

Matt,

The one you listed is practically the same thing, just with a different shell (and even then its not that different). You'll find that several companies have re-branded the controller. Acme have also done this, and their controller is slightly cheaper than the Chav-ette one. I think it's the Acme Master, so have a look their.

You will be able to do all the things you listed with that controller. However you would only be able to focus one light on your couple using the joy stick, as obviously if you selected more lights, the others would be at different points on our rig and thus would point differently!
