Did a gig last saturday, it was goin really well everyone dancing. Then we had a gate crasher   he had another lad with him. Drunk they were, anyway he had the fire exit door open and had the other lad up the other end of the room. which i didn't see but my roadie saw him open the fuse box and turn the socket ring off. The whole lot went off, iwas raving:mad:   . Previouly he was behind the rig asking if he could do some mixing i told to go away nicely but he was giving me some mouth but evntually we got him off the rig (there was no bouncers). After he had turned the power off three times he came on giveing me some mouth saying 'i thouhgt you didn't have a microphone' i said my rodie had saw you signal to another kid to turn power off 'i didn't i didn't' so he strated 2 push me about, so i lost it and pushed him and then punched him in self defence. I hate drunk people when there like that, thinking they are invinceable. Has anyone had this happen to them tell us your story

were there any adults at the function, Zach?

did you not have an adult with you?

didn't have an adult with me, there were adults there but they said he is on his final warning, like talking to a brick wall when someone is drunk:bang:

Zach, the whole situation sounds as if it were totally out of control, however this does not excuse your own appaling conduct. In the opening post, you have admitted to "losing it", "pushing him" and "punching him". You were clearly out of your depth and had an adult been present with you, I am sure the situation would have been different.

As an aside, how have you managed to obtain PLI cover working on youw own at 16? I thought all insurers insisted on the insured being over 18.

my dad does the insurance part, but he was pretty sure that there was not goining to be any trouble because he knew the part organizers, but he thought wrong:eek: so he thought he would leave me to do it because he gets tired because of working saturadays and doesn't want to be there all the while (he gets bored)

so, cutting to the quick, Zach, I think you will find this means you are working UNINSURED  don't do it.

Another question for you, albeit digressing, I note on your website (link below) you state "Website designed by Zach Cowell, the owner of Soundlads Discos LTD"

http://soundlads.co.uk/about.htm

Why do you state that your business is a limited company when it is clearly not (there is no such company registered at Companies House)
This constitutes misrepresentation, which is unlawful. My advice would be that you amend the web page as a matter of urgency.

Think you are being a little hard on Zach , sounded like he was more asking for a bit of friendly advice.
I think he will have to learn by his mistakes like we all did at that age.

You never win by arguing with your fists.

Best thing in this scenario - just stop - totally - as the lack of music means the crowd will look your way and you get instant witnesses and hopefully someone with enough sense to step in and sort out the trouble.

If all else fails, you either call the police and let them sort it out (you have every right as your personal safety is being compromised) or just pack up and go home.

You are being paid to entertain - not harrased.

I agree. I don't think Tony meant it to be as harsh as it came across, however I don't think it was appropriate to bring in the LTD bussiness from his website, completely un-related.

I expect Zach feels pretty down about the whole thing, and doesn't need that kind of input!! Chin up matey, we all learn things (slowly!). I'd say leave your fists in your pockets, and if you get people asking "oh can I use the mic" or "lets have a go mate", you can promptly say "Sorry, I'm afraid its against company policy". Done and dusted the drunk soul knows where he stands.

Using this method also shows your on the guys side, if your really nice to them, act like a pal, and say things as if its not you who makes up the rules etc, you will get a better response - "Ah sorry mate, I would but it's against company policy, I don't make the rules" - well you do...and for good reason!

And i,m sure the police would attend...NOT.
But agree, if it gets like that, pull the plug yourself, give it 5 mins and if this guy is still causing trouble, pack up and go home. Its not worth the hassle!

I think everyone has missed one crucial point here.

The person in question was gatecrasher

WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE WHO'S PARTY IT WAS, HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE! Why wasn't he thrown out?
