Friday Night at a school i do regularly set up spot on everything looking great ready to take a few pics of the lasers to put up here .... got everything going got the camera and walked to the end of the hall ......... sudden blackness.....

heres dragonfly thinking omg ive blown all the electrics tripped a fuse etc..... found the caretaker......whole town out...... 6.40 with 200 kids arriving in 20 mins.

phone call to leccy people "should be back on by 9pm!!!!"

7pm comes disco cancelled as no power .... dismantled went home disappointed.

saturday...... arrived at 6 at a local cricket club in the middle of a park. went to visit the venue with the client on wednesday night who said the manager will open the main gate for on on saturday so you can pull right up outside.

arrived no gate open so parked in the leisure centre carpark on the edge of the park .... went in to the venue and found the manager and asked for the gate to be opened ......"sorry mate park keeper has the keys not me" at this point bare in mind id parked in a carpark which must have been at least 120 metres from the venue over a 4ft wall and across an unlit field and yes it was soaked under foot........ after a brief moment of panic i showed the manager the gear that had to be carried across the sodden field in pitch black at which point he saw the problem and the client wanted a 7.30pm start .... not going to happen in those circumstances as it was now about 6.20pm.

client was rightfully livid and offered to help carry all the gear which of course i declined firstly because i didnt want to approach my insurers with a claim that a member of the public had a crushed leg while carrying a speaker across an unlit soaked field!!!!!

secondly its my disco my service and no way am i ever going to ask anyone to carry their own flippin disco!!!

well club manager managed to source some keys which were bought down for just after 6.40pm thank god......

drove up and was set up by 7.20pm amazing what pressure does to a person .... mind you my typing finger is about the only thing thats actually working on my whole body.

if i had had to carry it all over the hard way think i may well have ended up hospitalized.

definately one to forget...

Well I had a fantastic pub job on Friday (loads of requests, loads of dancing) Wheeled the Ultimax stand out to the van & dismantled straight into the back

Last night Masonic Ladies night, background system in dining room (dinner jazz CD just left playing no DJing required)

Main disco 10 -11 (they had to vacate the venue by 11:30 so all gear (lightweight stuff only) except amps, light controller, & CD players / mixer flightcase which I trolleyed out via the lift) was carried out for me to save time (I knew the organisers & let's face it, they needed all the time they could get for the dancing as they took so long over the meal & speeches) Packed dancefloor for the whole hour, much thanks from everyone & Angela got given a bouquet.

Now all I need is Wales to beat Ireland this afternoon & I will have had a perfect weekend.

Glad to hear you got paid-- but you have to pay the bills--no good telling the Building Society you had some bad luck when you cant pay the Mortgage:eek:

Personally I think it is very much overlooked that part of our fee is for reliability and actually TURNING UP!

Seems to be a regular problem for Builders, Plumbers, Electricians round my way!

Dead Right You should get paid. After all it is not your fault. If I feel sympathetic to a client I will generally take a reduced fee for a cancelled booking where I have not actually had to do any work (but not always) and in your case you had unloaded and set up; so....
