Hi there!
I signed up for the forum yesterday & posted a thread on the mobile disco forum. It was then suggested I come here to introduce myself...I hadn't even noticed this forum. Maybe I should have opened my eyes!
My name is Rob James, and I'm based in Worcester Park, Surrey. I run pub quiz nights in the week and mobile discos - mostly for weddings - at the weekends.
I used to have a "proper" daytime job in a bank & just did discos & quiz nights as a part time job or hobby, but after becoming disgruntled with the conditions at work (no overtime pay, annual pay increases below the inflation rate, more & more sales demanded etc) I left in 2004 & started doing quiz nights & discos full time...and I haven't looked back since.
I guess I was lucky...as my two best friends run entertainment agencies which supply discos & quiz nights, so they were able to give me the extra work which I needed.
I now wish I'd gone self-employed many years ago, but better late then never!
