WARRIOR Amp

i am thinkin about buying a Warrior DA800(i think) amp, they seem very cheap but are they any good? your feed back would be appreciated, im currently using a Gemini P800 amp and am pleased with is but i just fancy getting a new amp:)

I've used the older 1000 watt amp and I must say I was very impressed. I found that it seemed to kick out more power than my QSC 1450 amp.
Build quality was pretty good as well Mine had seperate transformers for each channel. Only thing I would fault them on is the speakon connections on the back are badly secured and I had to remove the screws and rivet them in place after once fell inside the amp whilst pluging the speakon in at the beginning of a gig (not the best of times) also over time the two volume controls crackled a little whilst turning up.

For power on a budget you wont go wrong.

Sounds good advice to me, im never sure with technology but its getting cheaper and cheaper, i always said i would never buy cheap stuff but i brought some sound lab speakers just as cheap spares in case of emergency and was suprised how much sound you can get from a 15" speaker for £125

yeh but like i said they was just cheap ones for in a emergency, im not planning on using them much but for what they cost they will do for a spare, my daughter is using them as bed side tables! at least wired through a amp its handy for her ipod

good to know you guys know what you are talkin about, i used to be in home hifi big time and moved from dual turntables and nad amps to linn turntables and naim amps! i spent £1000s chasing the perfect sound but chose magazines like what hifi to give me advice, at the end of the day i was never happy with the sound, now i would rather take advice from real people who spent their own money to advise me

Getting back to the Amp - I have a Warrior DA500 which I used for a childrens party last weekend - only 8 children so no need for a full kit! Used it with a pair of 12" speakers and it was fine.

Only downside is that the cooling fan is always on and sounds like a hair drier.

It also seems to lack bottom end bass. Had to turn up the bass on the EQ. I also have a BKE amp which gives more bass with the same speakers without adjusting the EQ.

ive been checking out those speakers and the specs sound impressive, i want some:) i dont know which ones sound better but i know which ones look better to me, now where did i put that visa card?

Will has both CD158 models & recons the 158-1 sounds slightly better.

Angela recons the CD158 looks sexy (read into that what you will)

& I think the CD158 has a very warm & rich sound (you will find you'll have to turn the top & bass down a bit on your mixer until they bed in)

& Neil P has some CD 215 which he likes very much too (& I covet them although I've yet to hear any in action :( )

They're slightly better, but for the same price, you might aswell have the slightly better ones (slightly bigger cabs- about an inch)

I think all speakers have a crossover in them. Because the Woofer does the mids and the low mids, and the horn (or other) does the highs. All our class D Speakers do.

If we're talking about the subs you've ordered, If using an amp just to run them and no tops, I'd take out the crossover and put an active crossover before the signal gets to the amp. The crossover in our Class-D subs blew up twice (both in the middle of gigs, one was a rock band night mind), so now they don't have the standard crossovers in them. We now can get a much louder sound out of them (Edwin knows why, I don't understand it!). So it's better in general.

will do will got a behringer crossover :D what do you cross yours over at will?

I use my CD158s with Deltec bass bins & Yamaha P5000S amps, so I don't need crossovers
