I have just had a primary school on the phone postponing tonights gig due to the white stuff.

In some ways it is a pain, but it does give me a chance to undertake some bits that need doing with the equipment.

Hey ho, it will go ahead after half term.

We had real snow didn't we? I remember going 100 yards down our road and it was one huge snow drift about 10ft high straight accross from hedge to hedge - NOTHING was getting through that :cool:

My Dad was a teacher at the local primary which was shut, we were the only vehicle on the roads going round telling the kids who were walking in to go home. We were in a ex WW2 Jeep :D :D
Even chelsea tractors would have been well stuck back then. :rolleyes:

The country's turned in to a bunch of wimps when it comes to snow :(

snow - you call that out there snow? Now see in Canada they get snow but yet they get on with it - my pops and mum where there for xmas a few years back and there was 10Ft of snow on the runways - so they expected to be there for days before it would be melted enough to fly out - the airport brought out massive hairdryers and the took off within 2.5 hrs

now why can't our country think of that?

Heaviest snow round here for 7 years. Kids all had the day off, I managed to get in though !!!!!

Quite good timing really, as my kids had an INSET day today, so got the best of it this morning!

True, just got back from my early evening slot and there was no noticeable snow around A14, M6 or Rugby areas, the town I mean!

Certainly none on the main roads/ Motorway at all.

When I were a lad, one winter, we had to dig ourselves out of our 4th floor bedroom window, using only my grandad's false teeth. After 3 hours of digging, we then had to slide down the snow drift on skis made from the planking of our bunks, which we then used to dig a path for the bus to take us the 7 miles to school. When we got there, at lunch time, next day, we were quite happy to play football in the playground only wearing a balaclava, between 3 of us. However, we did have the luxury of a string vest, lovingly crafted by our own mother from an old tow rope.

How we laughed. Happy days.

It took me an extra 5 minutes to travel the 8 miles to work today.
It took 15 minutes for the BBC News at One to tell me that it had snowed during the night. To cap it all, the largest part of the report was from a school just 200 yards down the road from where I was watching telly (Henley-in Arden, Warks).

I dont get it! according to the weather people they said yesturday,no more snow, they cant get it right, now we are told in 10 yrs its going to be warmer, but if they cant get the next day right, how are we to know whats going on in 10yrs.

hmmmmm not happy - i live on a hill and just got back from loading the van up for tonights gig and cant get it back up the hill!!!! so i've had to leave it down the road fully loaded.... Not happy.

Checked with the clients and both tonights and tomorrows gigs are still going ahead!

How long before you need to leave? (ie how long is it going to be left at the bottom of the hill?).... and what are you going to do when you get back from the gig?

Pah! Luxury!
When it snowed round here, we had to lick our way out through the chimney. Then sit on a dustbin lid and slide us way to where school should be. Then we had to all breath over the school to make a slope down to the door.... Balaclava! Ha! We had an odd sock between 25 of us and pair of old torn bloomers donated by someones auntie.
