i was wondering does anyone know of a similar product that can hold more weight for larger lights?

Have to say... the picture on that weblink shows the 4 foot prolight stand not the 6 foot one. On the 4 foot the overhead bar is 25mm square tube. On the 6 foot it's actually 50mm x 25mm.

Mine (6') comfortably takes two 19" widescreen TFT monitors, two purelight lasers, four dynamo scans and a large centerpiece effect, usually an Acme Stormbird, and is very stable.

Not that you shouldn't look at the alternatives - just thought I'd point this out as I quite like my Prolight stand!

im i right in saying your stand takes 29.9kgs

two purelight lasers 6.2kgs
four dynamo scans 15.2kgs
Acme Stormbird 8.5kgs

Never done the maths, but if those are the correct weights then yes... my 6 foot prolight stand takes that weight! From time to time I add a couple of other smaller lights, minimoons mainly.

Think the laser estimate is OTT... they're probably no more than 1.5Kg apiece

Plus... two 19" monitors and their mounting brackets must be, say, 6Kg.

If I'm using projectors instead of monitors I hang a pair of Spinmasters in their place, so that's even heavier.

Are the monitors for karaoke or visuals?

Visuals.

R4 plus Shadowdancers plus home-made sequences especially for the occasion - eg. 'Happy Birthday Fred', plus rolling advertising script for the downtimes (background music, meals, buffets).

If the venue can stand it I use one or two projectors and tripod-mounted screens, otherwise it's the monitors on the deckstand.

i have had a reponse off prolight and the limit is 40kgs spread evenly!

Nice to know someone else uses r4, I've used it for a while and the video input is great for putting crowd shots on screen, plus i can bluetooth pics to it.

I've got the 4ft pro light stand, if i knew the 6ft had a bigger and stronger cross bar I would have got that one!

Haven't had any probs with the 4ft just seems to bow a little bit under the weight.

Only 2 probs with the 6 footer.

1. Fitting it into certain venues - not good for small places!! Overall rig width is a minimum of 10' if you squish everything together.
2. Fitting it into a small van or car - the crossmembers are 6' long. Thankfully the overhead bar comes in two 4' lengths.

I have the 4' for smaller gigs. Usually hang no more than 6 smaller lights, or two monitor plus 4 smaller lights.

I know what you mean about getting it all in the car. Have been putting off for as long as poss getting a van.

Everything just and i mean just fits in my Audi A3 with the seats down!
