Hi guys does anybody know if when your searching for an artist can you search by part of name ie if you put in glor will it come up with all the gloria names and so on i really like this peice of kit but need som more convincing before i go get one

Dragonfly and Spin both have one as well as myself. See what they think.

In my experience it depends on the name of the artist and how many similar sounding artists or tracks you have held on your hard drive.

Sooooo as im into Country Music I might put in "Johnny" for Johnny Cash.

If I put in "John" for short I get pop people like John Miles,Elton John, John Lennon as well.

You get a search result on Title, Artist, Genre, Album.

If your smart like Dragonfly you can make up Folders holding say 80s classics and things like that for when you go brain dead on a gig :eek:

Also depends EXACTLY what the tags are.You would be surprised at how many variations there are.

Overall though you are only talking seconds to keep scrolling down to the artist and track you want.

GLOR came up as Artists (2)--- Gloria Gaynor and Gloria Estefan but I dont have much regular Pop and Chart stuff on my Hard drive yet.

Tracks (3) were Gloria, Morning Glory, and my own favourite Glory Glory Hallelulah for all you Spurs Fans:D which I use as a Country track.

There were no Albums or Genre results shown on the search.

absolutely yes you can 100% i put in rob when looking for mr williams all the time hope that answers the question. now go and buy one well worth the money.

To asnswer the question as K and Dragonfly said yes search string allows you search for words begining with said letter. However the more music you have the more results it will return. As K said if I searched John I would get about 1000 results from elton john , john lennen etc.
But this is not as big a problem as it sounds because with keyboard it it easy to scroll down and search. I wanted S.O.S the other day and couldnt spell artists name lol (rihanna if anyone's interested) of course came up with abba, erasure etc but still narrowed it down for me.

but because you can just put in john lenn...... it works perfectly!
