I have taken a party booking for some very close friends and it is for a teen event (13yrs - 18yrs) I do not normaly do this age range but it is for some very close friends.

what I would like to ask you helpful chaps is for some ideas on tunes or should that be "Chooons" lol

Can you please recommend the best 5 songs in the following catagory:-

R&B / Hip Hop plus any other genre I might encounter with this age group.

i seem to be doing more and more of these. i actually like them as the dancier music i actually like. Can actually mix the tunes rather than the boring 70s,80s,90s tunes normally played. Also can go way over the top with lighting and smoke/haze

When's the party? 6 months can be a very long time at that age, how many of the song listed will have the longevity?

I normally go for the now albums from, say, 55 to date and the last couple of years of Best of Dance and Best of R'n'b. Make sure you have some indie stuff as the likes of The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and Fratellis go down well.

Now 57 is a defo as it has Cha Cha slide on!

Also the likes of Macarena and Saturday night where there is a specific dance are always winners.

Monster - The Automatics is one I would definetely have, also Dontcha and Beep by the Pussycat Dolls. Possibly some Green Day.

Last 18th I did they wanted some hard Dance/Trance type music towards the end, but also some normal party dances.

Nelly Fertado, Cassie, Shakira, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Steffani, Sugababes, Ciari/Miss Elliot (1,2 Step) Pussycat Dolls, Chris Brown, 50 cent, Black Eyed Peas, Scissor Sisters or could try The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs etc. Anything along those lines normally works out quite well. If you play them direct from Now collections or something similar geered towards the kids at least they will all be the radio edits so you won't have to worry too much. Most of the 18ths that I've done start off with modern but after a couple of hours its still usually the eighties cheese that get's most of them up and dancing.
