Am I losing work by not having brochures?

Most of my enquiries come via email from the "query" form on my website.

Quite a few ask for a brochure - even though details & prices are on the site!

I always reply by email stating that we do not have any brochures as all information is on the website, and ask them to contact me if they need to know anything which is not covered on the site. When doing this, I don't usually hear from them again.

I've been thinking of getting some double-sided A4 sized brochures (folded into 3) to send out when requested. These appear to be available in small quantities for less than £1 each.

Do you think I'm losing work by not having brochures (even though these requests come via my website where details & prices are shown)?

i have some double sided leaflets that i send out .... to be honest the information doesnt really differ from that on the website but some people do like to just have some thing in print in their hand to read????? suppose that way they can do the "what do you think" thing with their family and friends??

I don't have a brochure either, and have never been asked for one. Personally, i only think you'd loose out if another DJ they've enquired with does have one.. then they've kinda got the edge.. some people prefer to have something they can sit down and read rather than looking at a computer monitor.

I looked into this a while ago as I don't currently have a brochure, and decided I needed to act but put it on the 'backburner' as there were other things I wanted to focus on.

I think I'll design a brochure and put it up on the website as a PDF. If the customer want's me to print and mail one, they'll be able to request it. I have access to a colour laser printer, so I'll print up a couple of dozen and see how it goes.

We use them when we do wedding fayres...and include them with postal packs, and have pdf versions to send with online enquiries. A lot of people comment on how useful they are and how it's nice to have all the information they need to hand

Returning to the thread - if people are regularly asking for them then there is a demand and you probably are losing work. The 64,000 dollar question is whether the cost of producing them will be covered by extra gigs. Do you need extra gigs? Or is your datesheet quite full already thankyou.

I did brochers the first few years I was in business. I dont use them anymore. I changed to a DVD with a printed jacket. The DVD has some pictures and video in a slideshow format with me narrating what my company offers. It runs about 5 minutes. the jacket of the DVD is printed with my prices and a list of what my DJ package comes with. The total cost of the DVD and jacket and postage is around $1.70 each. Oh yeah I also include 2 business cards in the jacket. My brochers were costing me around $2.00 for full color glossy printing and $.35 to mail them out. I get a few requests for brochers. My website does a good job of informing potential clients, but when I get a brocher request I send the DVD. I have booked 99% who get my DVD.
