Peavey are good make, I use the 15 inch drivers myself. But I think you may find the speakers a bit underpowered being only 10 - 12 inch drivers. Ok for pub - small venue's etc but may be a bit overtaxed for anything else.

Only the bins would be a bit too small at 12"

I use 10" tops.. and they give a much better sound than using bigger drivers for the mid/top frequencies... and trust me, they go mighty loud!

We use Wharfedales for disco, 15 inch, full range 300 watt 8ohm and everyone, including dj's comment on what a good sound we have. I must admit the wharfedales really do give a lovely warm sound. Never any problems with these. Also have Peavey's but not used them yet.

Ya Same ones as us, We also have build problems. The first and only one so far, was one handle is loose. The thread for taking the screw, seems to be worn. Dont know how to fix it, apart from drilling a new thread and fitting a new size screw. But really very good sound, so looking after them.

Also have Ev's SX300, which we use only for karaoke. Very clear sound, but need to base up if using for disco's

any suggestions about how to fix the handle would be really helpful, as have to carry one without using the handles, very heavy and getting too old for that:)

i used peavey 500rx's for many years fantastic speaker never let me down at all was going to replace them with ul-15s but went for my active mackies instead. crazy k uses peaveys i think too so pm him heel tell you about his set up im sure.

peavey are a love them or hate them brand ive found...... but you wont hear complaints from me

also know guys who use the messenger pro series i think they are called and like them?

Even though i'm known for being a Peavey fan, steer clear of these.

The scorpion speaker was origionally designed for a guitar amp/combo. It does this very well. You will be very disappointed if you buy this lot. Don't even think of a bass bin less than 15".

I had the same problem, the handle actually fell off, i rang wharfedale who told me the factory had fitted screws when the should be bolts and offered to send me bolts. I found it was just easier to put a bigger self tapping screw in

dont be put off by the class d speakers i gigged my for the first on sunday for a dancing show in a massive room with about 250 people in and no problem at all plenty of headroom and crystal sound, also got few comments on how good they sounded, also the max spl on the cd 158 speakers is around 125 db! which isnt that bad hope this helps:)

I too looked at these, and if they had been 15" subs, I think there would have been a lot of bidding going on. Though they are top-class speakers, I think they would be undergunned for disco with 12" subs. ( Reckon they would be ace for Karaoke though) I have worked a few times with a band using UL115's as PA, and have always been impressed with the sound quality, and noise level achieved.

May I also add my quandary to yours please? I have Eurosys 3's and am looking to probably add subs, favourite being Pro Subs. I am unsure whether to check out the Class D's products, as the quoted impedance is 8ohms, and would probably not deliver as much output as a 4ohm system. What is one to do?( with a limited budget! )
