Downloaded Music

HI, before i start i write this thread with the assumption that downloaded music off of a legal site like itunes is legal for me to play at a gig, if i am wrong please tell me.

So..... providing that is correct.......

Is there a big difference in sound quality between downloads that i burn onto a cd and official cds.

You see i find i often want to buy single tracks and not whole albums.
