I'm thinking about placing an ad in the local Thomson Directory. Just wondered if it's worth the investment?

Always found Thomson better than YP - but like YP, they are very much in decline these days. We still do a little bit of advertising with them, but not much..... whereas once upon a time they were our main advertising point.

Depends if you want

a) endless sales calls from their "associates"
b) more pikeys tyre kicking than you get from Yellow Pages

On the plus side, they do provide search results for some of the "lesser" search engines such as Ask and Lycos so it might help your web visibility.

I went to a free ad only this year after not one single booking in 2006.

Better then Yellow Pages, not as good as it used to be, worth while putting your www in it if nothing else.

I have just got a free ad put in to see what its like then might up grade it.

Had a free ad with them for about a year but just got it removed after constand phone calls and junk mail from there reps as well as many other companies!
I am sure they sold are details on thousands of times...

I had a phone call from the Thompson last week. Just the one this year mind you, and they didn't book.

I don't pay for an ad though.

I have a free listing too. I've had one phone call and one email enquiry, neither of which booked. I rarely get any click throughs to my website from their online directory either :(

Have to say, I've never had that problem (there is a box for you to tick on the paperwork to say that you don't want your details passed on, and I tick it)

I signed up on their website earlier. There is also a box to tick (actually it was tick it if its ok to send the data on but hey).

I didnt tick it. :)
