hi guys,

What would you like to see in the future? what ideas do you have, anybody with any new innovations or brilliant ideas?

at the moment the Market place changes, DJ's always want new products that are different. the point of this thread is to find out your ideas, and we might be-able to come up with a new design to manufacture.

We like new ideas. any thoughts???

Could we have the PL101 but swap the green diode with a blue one for the same price??

Or offer a blue diode replacement for those who already have the PL101?

Well with the smoking ban lowering the chances of needing smoke would be a good move. So lighting that doesnt need it to look good. Or failing that a hazer / smoke machine that wont set off smoke alarms prehaps a mode that can be use when a smoke alarm is present. A foolproof low setting prehaps.
Also a look into weight and size of effects. I use a car for example for my gigs and weight and size are a big factor when choosing an effect. I use a pair of technotronics moon flower made in the 90's they only weigh about 4 kilos each and 2 of them fit together in a standard flight case. this makes them very handy for mobile use as well as good effect.

thanks for your comments guys,,,

The blue lasers we do offer, however, these are extremley expensive. and the price will never lower on a blue laser. these are so expensive to produce! we always like to offer the end user the lowest prices poss while having a good quality reliable product. we do have a FULL 7 colour laser available that is cost effective!

i understand smoke machines can cause great problems in venues, i understand some places you cant use them, this is a huge blow to the working effect of lasers and lighting effects. plus with the coming smoking ban, it makes it 10 times worst.

Haze machines are slightly better for the use with smoke alarms, if you use the correct fluid and the right machine, this should not effect the alarm.

talking about smoke machines we are also distributing the American DJ (Elation) BULL FOG Moving Head Smoke Machine! this is a Great Little Unit, Very Powerful with a huge 7 metre Distance and capable of a full 360degrees.

Please see the pic on our website for more details

You say blue lasers will never be cheaper. Surely that was the case when laser diodes first came out? As the technology moves on and demand is higher, then the cost is bound to come down.

Hi,

How about a high sensitivity switch for the mic on sound to light.

Ive bought alot of Disco lights for home use,i know there designed for Pro discos. But ive found to get say the PL101 laser to react at its best ive got to have the volume LOUD:DJ:thats not a problem early in the evening. To be fair to the neighbours ive had to buy some small tweeter size speakers and connect them up close to the mics on all my light units for to all work fine at lower volume.

Just a problem ive found for home use.

Chips.

I agree, everything must drop in price over time surely?!

Something laser wise I would like to see is a battern style laser (say 1-3m in length) with several laser beams (wether it be seperate lasers or mirrors). Same sort of shape as the Loopy Tubes and the like, but with up to 8 lasers poping out. So one could simply clamp to the top of some truss (and indeed around the sides aswell) and create a rather sweet effect....mmmmmmmm

hi,

i can assure you that the blue laser price will not drop to a green laser price. not now and not in 10 years time. the reason is simple. it cost 8 times more to make a blue diode than a green or red diode. therfor the price will remain the same. even if the demand is high

regarding mics on lighting. most lighting comes with AUTO operation. this will allow you to use no sound. however, regarding the PL101. this ususally reacts to low sound. make sure you have the sound switch to max.

One last thing, regarding longer lasers. we can buy an 8 hole laser system with RGY mixing. however, this is a new product not long been designed and at this moment the price is quite high, and on a basic RRP price you will be looking approx £1000.

Thanks

BLUE laser prices will never be as low as a red or green laser price.

Yes, but as technology advances, all prices drop. Hence my question about meaning in relation to other colours. If blue costs more to make, it stands to reason that red or green will be cheaper. Green lasers are by & large more expensive than red, but the price of green now is similar to that of red a few years ago.

Hi,

Yep it is set to Max when i lower the volume.

Just my option about the blue laser prices,DVD players were hundreds of pounds when they first came out,the other week it was on the news that you can buy one for as little as a Tenner. You could say the same for playstation 2 £300 on release now a smaller version with a game for £99

Yes, but I think what Dale is saying is that they will always be x times the price of another laser

YES TRUE,

however, this is down to retailers and manufacturers. for example. the PL101 price has been the same for us for 3 years now. we used to price check all the time from one factory to the next.

this is what i do, i am always in contact with most factorys, speaking everyday on msn. i often as them questions about other products etc etc...

please take my word for this, the blue laser price will not come down in price that much. the only way you will get a better price than from a shop is if you either, import yourself, or buy direct from an importer. but still the price would not be that cheap.

some of you will think they would come down in price. but please believe my words.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply:)

At the end of the day its down to supply and demand which does effect the price.

10mW green laser with DMX and sound to light. Should have liquid sky, time tunnels and scannng on the sound to light as well as selectable on dmx.

All for £150.

On the pl101 green 60 mw laser it is a shame liquid sky was not included in the patterns as it is one of the easiest to create. Also I know you can adjust speed of change but what about a lock or next pattern switch?

you can do this, turn off the mic switch when you are happy with the pattern. the pattern will be the same all the time unless you change the switch again.

In the future I would like to see wireless DMX built into light effects, this must surely be possible. I know people have tried with TV senders and have been successful, so surely we can't be too far of.

Wireless power would also be nice!!!!!! :)

Wireless DMX does exsist in some fixtures already I believe, although haven't used them before. Most wireless DMX (unlike your home made stuff - which I might add I'm rather impressed with) is based around WiFi just like a wireless computer network. It is thus encrypted and safer for use in larger scale shows (i.e. can't be hacked easily). You also illinate the "works in some places but not others" as we saw on anothe thread recently. :)

An easy DMX controller

one that can have in built programmes and control that is plug and play

BUT
works on all DMX fixtures

so you can scroll colours , gobos , fast slow operation and also works with different makes together

Just noticed this....

The only way this will ever be achieved is if you using a peice of software in which you tell it exactly what your lights are by setting the program up with add-in fixtures. Even then only some software can do it, and it doesn't do it very well either.

This is because every single fixture out there is different. They all have different gobos/colours in different places on the wheel, and where the manufacturer decides to put each function in the channel list also differs.

If you want a quick solution, there are contollers such as the CA-8 which are available for limited fixtures (i.e. the iSolultion range), however these controllers are not true DMX controllers. Infact you don't even have that much control, so to a degree they can't even be called controllers!

Shame though.
