I want to extend a hazer controller. It requires a female 5 pin xlr to a 5 pin male cable made to do this.
Should it be ok to use cat 5 cable to make this extension.

Don't see why not. It's probably just analogue low voltage.
My Jem Technofog used a sort of 0-10v control system. You could actually control it using 0-10v on just 2 pins. The others give +ve and LED outputs.
Are you sure it's XLR and not DIN? My Jem (and older Martin fogger) is 5 pin DIN.
A DIN is like the old audio tape recorder plug.

Should be fine, providing the input socket on the back isnt one of those accepting both the standard controller, and DMX.

or.....is it the same size as a mic cable?? 5 pin and 3 pin XLRs are exactly the same size, one just has more pins....(doh). If you know its the same size as your mic cable (assuming you use an XLR one) then you know its an XLR :)

Sounds like the sort of lead that connects iColors to their foot controller
