I am looking a replacement driver for a small set of speakers i use in small bar. They retail at £50 upwards for a cheap but equivilent replacement driver.

On ebay some retailers are selling 'grade B' stock complete wooden boxed speakers for the same price. In some cases the price is for a pair.

So I was thinking of buying a set and using the drivers in my plastic cabs. Then using the wooden cases for firewood.:p Plus i'd have a spare driver.

Why are these so cheap and has anyone bought any of these before. Can anyone recommend a retailer and anyone to avoid.

Cheers Guys:)

At the price probably skytecs or Sound lab i would have though. You may find the moulded cabinets you have may need a specific adapter for fitting new drivers not matching the originals so may be a false economy. Besides if you dont need the wooden surround you can save time (and probably postage) just buying the drivers by themselves.

D'oh! The other day there was about 3 ebay shops selling speakers as grade b stock. Described as having slight cosmetic damage. They were going really cheap.

One particular pair of 12" speakers, went for £40 and £15 delivery.

The cheapest driver you can buy is £50 and you were getting 2 for that. :p

Now that I have went to have a look to get a link there is none    aghhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'll just go and take some more tablets :D :D and is the listings reappear I'll post it.

Never thought I would say this but I think I'm going mad :p

Have you tried the HolidayCamp?

Bought a good 15 inch Eminence Driver for about £50 from them.

Generally you get what you pay for--
