Help me choose some speakers

Let me explain what we need them for and maybe you can give me some pointers

OK , I run an Old school BMX web site

and we have been lucky to get some sponsorship for our summer event of race and camping, party etc etc

we have about 1000 quid to buy a PA with

and I have been struggling to work out what to get

i saw the JBL 2 x 15 inch cabs and thought they would be good for the parties but not so good on voice
I saw some KAM plastic 1 x 15 ich and expect them to be good for commentary but poor on music

I cant run powered speakers as they may be outside

what good ideas do the experts have ?

4 pairs of class d cd 158 speakers and 2 x alto mac amplifiers to give 2.8 kw rms of sound should be plenty of power also they are very bassy speakers !:D im sure will and steve will agrre here!

ah but class d's are carpet and they need to be used outside. id recommend wharfedale titan 12 or 15's (try electromusic.co.uk for best price ) and a numark dimension amp.

My recommendation would be a pair or even two of Mackies C300Z speakers, just been reduced by £150 a pair at the moment and are £249/pair from SoundControl (http://www.soundcontrol.co.uk/mod_1/pages/mod_1.12/pages/mod_1.12.1/pages/mod_1.12.1.1/pages/index.php?sku=1.1.6.3.3-16-3188). 300watt rms, 750 watt peak. Quality speakers, and a great price.

mind you, with a £1000 budget you could by titan12's for outside, class d's for inside and a decent amp.

I used my 450s recently for a quiz i a big old hall and used them with a powered desk, and they sounded fantastic, so at that price I reckon it's well worth it.

I've got a pair of 450s and a pair of 350s, I love them to bits.

if I had an amp (got rid of them all as I have gone fully powered) I would have bought a pair of the C300Zs. Great price, they are also doing the 200s (passive version of the 350s) for £199 a pair.

Hi if you are looking for a pair of speakers to use outside check out the RCF ART range they do them active or pasive ,for outside the covers are very neat and stay on with folding flaps to get at the conections also they sound amazing Tony T&T Sound & Light Hire

Much rather have the Mackies than a pair of Kams for a similar price.

Even in China things are made to different specifications with different quality control.

[Disco smash are funfair speakers. Thats mainly what they are aimed at So yeah they are designed to be used outdoors. Powerful cabs too.

I recently brought some JBL JRX125's plus a Crown XLS602 amp. Very punchy and powerful and was under £1000. Well pleased with them and may get some more this week too.

I'd fully recommend them though they are heavy!

i had jbl eon 1500's and wouldnt recommend them to anyone. awful sound.
I finally talked mrs c into letting me buy some mackies today ! cant beleive they are only £250, thats cheaper than some of the budget brands. Ill have to be nice to Mrs C for a while now. Anyone wanna buy some wharfedales ??

Wow I'll be getting some of these too...had been looking at the active 350s and 450s as a smaller option for my huuuuuuuuge Class-d skyscrapers but for this silly money they will go fine with the amp I already had...

Hmmm Mackies...Class-D...I can see I'm gonna fit right in here:D

Thanks guys , i have been converted to mackies i think , we will buy a pop up tent and keep them dry . i saw the 450s they look good
and saw these the mackie SR1521 , seem to be a good mix of voice and music and at £890 a pair they seem ideal , anyone running them and are they better than the srm450
