View Full Version : Another Newbie! Any help and advice welcome!

Hi everyone,

I'm Angela and my husband is Gary, and we are just starting out on this new venture as a Mobile Disco. It will be mainly Gary doing the DJ bit, but it's a joint venture as we already have a small business doing Helium Balloons.

After succesfully doing our daughters party last year and then early on this year we did a party for our friends sons' 5th birthday, our idea originally was to do children's parties. So we started looking around at buying some equiment etc. and decided to arrange a freebie night for family and friends to sample what we have to offer, and a chance to practise in a Venue rather than the spare front bedroom or the Garage.

Then word spread, and already have had a few enquiries about doing a Retirement party, an 18th and also a wedding in the summer.

Any help or advice will be appreciated on the following subjects:
Those songs that are a must to have on your play list
Where to get some Liability Insurance

With regards to your question about Liability Insurance. DJ Guard / Music Guard seem to be the most popular choices. When you take out insurance for your equipment they include a policy for Public Liability Insurance included in the price. Music Guard offers £1 million pounds worth of cover as standard, DJ Guard offers £2 million pounds worth of cover.

Welcome Gary and Angela you sound like good people - the sort this industry needs. Hope you do well. If you log onto this forum there is always loads of thought provoking threads and good ideas and advice.

Hi Gary and Angela. welcome to the forums. hows work up your way in Goole. im based in Hull. If you can travel and i get anything i cant cover. It will go simon's way if simon isnt busy allready but i always look out more contacts.
