Hi

How much kit can I plug into one double wall socket? Is it safe to run 2 CD Players, 2 turntables a mixer a pair of 800w powered speakers and 4 pairs of lights from one double socket?

I'm just a bit worried about overloading.

On a few mobile disco websites I've looked at it seems they state 1 double socket is all that's required. Is this true?

When you say 4 pairs of lights do you mean 8 different effects 2 of each or just 4 lights? It should be safe to run decks amp etc from one socket of a double and lighting from another if it doesnt exceed about 2500watts total I should think. The best lead type I could find for standard 3 pin mains was 3750 watts fully unwound so Keep a thousand below this should be fine.
But one draw back is you may get cracking through your speakers when lights are turned on etc if both plugged into same socket. i normally try to plug decks amp, mixer into one socket and find another socket for ligting to minimise this.

to be honest i think it would probably be ok but would be much better if you used two double wall sockets on the safe side, also depends on what lighting effects they are ? some pull lot more juice then others. hope this helps:beer1:

Add up all the wattages of your various bits of equipment.

Each socket shouldn't exceed 3000W. Each double socket should easily support around 6000W if wired as part of a normal 30A ring main - the vast majority are.

dont forget other stuff may be plugged into the ring main apart from your own gear.
your cd decks use virtually no current, 0.2A ish , the amp about 2A, then calcualte your lights.

Does the amp not use as many watts as it is rated at/running the cabs at (plus circuit board usage)? This has always confused me. Insight appreciated :)
