Ripping Cds

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can help me. I am ripping my Cds to my computer, When they have been ripped I then tag them and put them into a folder.

Now my problem is when I play my windows media player, some of the tracks jump out of the folder I have put them into and go into the folder that they went into when first ripped. They also untag theirselfs at the same time.

Anyone any idea.

It would probably help those in the know to give you a bit of help if you gave a bit more info - like what programs are you using to rip and tag?

O.K here goes, I am using windows media player 11 to rip & tag. The cds I am using are all good and come from high street shops over the past 10 years or so.

Try using exact audio copy with the lame plug in. It is a free program and encoder. It is also one of the most reliable audio extraction programs I know of.

I have now ripped half of my collection with windows media. Would it matter if the other half was ripped with EAC and would I have to go back and redo what I have already done in windows.

No real reason to, though you may find, as I have, that you often go back and re-rip for various reasons, but there's no need to do it all in one go. I'm 20,000+ tracks into doing the same thing. I will eventually get a digital DJ-system but for the moment I'm burning the tracks back out to compilations that help me keep my music organised.

Having done all that hard work-I know im doing it right now---isnt it time to go straight to Laptop ot USB reader?

Then you dont have to mess about with more burning and discs?

A couple of reasons:

1) I can't readily afford an HD or Lap-top based system just at present (my current lap-top simply wouldn't cut it)

2) Even once I do get an HD or lap-top based system I'd still have the CDs and a player available in case of catastrophic equipment failure.

I have downloaded both the EAC and the LAME plugin. I have started to rip my cds by pressing the mp3 button with the program.

However it rips to wav then the program tells me that it is waiting for external compression and does not start ripping the next track.

I feel that it is a problem with me more than the program.

If anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong it would be most helpful.

No not yet. To be honest I don't know what to adjust, I was hoping someone might be able to tell me.
